SPECIAL SHOUT OUT
To our ever loving contributors to YOUTUBE!
A few weeks ago I was at work complaining to my co worker about having to do these assigned readings that were just too lengthy and not at all what I want to read (at the moment) when one of my -many- genius customers reminded me that audio reading is a thing ! And boom, lightbulb.
So while of course I wasn’t going to go and spend my own money on audio versions of books just for specific chapters, I first put my speak option to the test on my IPhone. For you android users out there, it’s just a small feature that allows us to have highlighted text read out loud. When this inevitably failed because I hated the auto mechanical voice and realized it’s shitty for when it’s pages on pages of reading material, I turned to YouTube.
While for the most part I was seriously doubtful I would find any of these assigned readings I’d never heard, behold - there they were! Suddenly a reading that would have taken four hours to simultaneously read and break down - was only going to take me the ten or fifteen minutes with the read aloud someone decided to do for some crazy reason. For a moment I thought, these people are crazy why the hell would they want to record this damn story - I realize it’s probably to save people like me from killing themselves via papercut.
Suffice to say this got me through my last short paper for this term which I had no interest in finishing.
Thanks to youtubers I have finished paper before midnight and squeezed in a movie with the family.
So long post short, if you don’t want to dry your eyes out reading shit you aren’t interested in, trust that someone out there was definitely interested and kind enough to record a video of it for YouTube and your own sanity.
