Previously marketed under the Robson brand the Brooks range of canoes are made from Armerlite.
Armerlite is a composite material of interwoven glass fibre and polypropylene plastic. The material is layered in the canoe mold, vacuum bagged and cooked in a large oven where the polypropylene melts around the fibre. So it has the look of carbon fibre but has the hard wearing properties of plastic.
It’s a great idea and I have to say the Brooks on display at the 2015 Paddle Expo looked fantastic.
