he's the literal cutest!! best boy, hands down. he has a few favourites, actually! not to be typical, but he loves the water types the best. his favourite, hands down though? he loves quagsire. he has no explanation for that choice, but he loves it. some of his other notable favourites include: milotic, squirtle, eevee, lapras, dragonite, and psyduck. however, he loves all the pokemon, so he'll take whatever plushies he can get his hands on please.

some are ones he bought himself, and some are gifts from his friends and grandparents! they all tease him and call him a nerd for it, but they say it with fondness because,,, its endearing.

he tries his best to love on them all equally! because he truly does love each and every one of them. that being said... he does tend to favour his medium size and super squishy quagsire plush the most. usually if you come home late, you can find him sleeping away on his stomach on the bed, that quagsire tucked under his arm.

the quagsire is affectionately called "dude" because as a child, armin named him that in his game. and it just kind of stuck

german king, bilingual king. german is his first language since he lived with his grandparents growing up and that's what they spoke at home.

he is fluent in both german and english. sometimes when he's feeling intense emotions (excitement, anger, frustration), you can hear him switch and mismatch words since he doesn't have the energy to try and translate. no, he doesn’t realize that he does this.

i've talked about this with tumblr user miekasa... he totally helps carla out with her things, like taxes, getting a phone plan, etc. her first language is also german, and while her english is good it's just not as good as armin's - so he helps her out with stuff like that since it's very difficult.

he would love to teach you german if you don't already know. he won't bring it up though because he doesn't want to force you to learn. he would get so happy if you asked him though, or if you learn on your own and surprise him. seriously, he might tear up.

he wants to learn mandarin and japanese. mandarin because so much of the world speaks it and it would be super useful. japanese because then him and mikasa can communicate without eren eavesdropping.

armin totally has pokemon plushies in his room. they sit on shelves, and he got eren to help him put up a stuffed animal hammock.

he loves pet names but they make him so embarrassed to use them. especially in public and in front of his friends. he still will use them, but as soon as it registers that he called you that in front of his friends he goes red for the next hour.

he's a tummy sleeper! when he's alone, or when sleeping with you. if he's sleeping with you, you almost always wake up with a leg or arm thrown over you and seeing his cheek smushed into the pillow.

absolutely not a morning person. or a night person. he just gets very grumpy when he's sleepy.

@bunnys-babies said this and i fully agree, he is a sleep talker! and a very bitchy and snarky one at that. sometimes it's cute, or a bit scary. but usually? it's snarkiness to the max. you thought he was bad when he was awake? try listening to him while he's asleep.

he has so many weird and random allergies. kiwis, nuts, certain laundry detergents, pollen, shellfish, etc.

he carries around an epipen, but he's a bit intimidated to use it. he gave one to mikasa so she can jab him if necessary (which has happened a few times when he got too freaked out to stab himself, and eren couldn't stab him either).

he prefers salty snacks to sweet snacks. he has a slight popcorn addiction but he would never admit it.

armin always makes his bed in the morning. you have never seen it messy.

my favourite headcanon of armin is that he just... straight up doesn’t get flirting. he says he doesn’t know how and doesn’t realize when he’s doing it (but he’s a pretty natural flirt in a boyish n charming way)

for instance: he’s at a party/a social gathering and he sees the cute person from one of his classes. spends the evening making eyes at you from across the room, some slight talking here and there... which just prompts eren to be like “what the fuck are you do- oh my god you’re flirting!” which armin adamantly denies as he burns absolutely red. starts rambling about how he can’t flirt because he doesn’t know how! this leads to him keeping his nose in the corner for the rest of the night to avoid his crush and the teasing of his friends

i feel like if armin was in the band,, he’d totally play the piano..maybe an electric one so he can play together w eren…. those long, lithe fingers of his tapping away on the keyboard mm

i think mie and i have talked about this, but we were talking about how armin's grandparents have a piano in their house and his grandparents would always play it when he was younger so the house would be filled with music and light. but as they aged, they weren't as nimble or capable. so armin takes it upon himself to learn, so that way the music can continue in their house :((

gets very shy playing in front of people who aren't his grandparents. it was even a surprise to mikasa and eren when they found out. blushes up to his ears when you find out and ask if he can play for you.

thoughts on surfer!armin and surfer!eren ??? they’d look so sexy…. but also i feel like their clumsy asses would panic at some point and fall and almost drown

okay so question... which kind of surfer au are we talkin? are we talking about eren and armin who either move somewhere or just generally start learning to surf while in their 20s, or eren and armin who have been surfing since they were 10? cause it could go a few ways...

so if they're just learning in their 20s, then please - they're a disastrous duo. eren keeps splashing armin and fucking around, and armin is trying so hard to pay attention so he doesn't fuck up and face place in the water and humiliate himself. they both really don't want to embarrass themselves, but eren is just more of a troublemaker aglsjdgf. they're both a bit clumsy and unbalanced, especially at first, but they slowly and slowly get better (with copious amounts of practice after and between lessons).

now, you could either be the surfing instructor or another student (surfing instructor!levi anyone??). either way, they go about flirting with you in different ways. eren tries very hard to get you to laugh and to notice him and how talented he is. he would never admit to the fact that he's practicing so hard after class to impress you. armin, on the other hand, doesn't fully realize he's hitting on you when he keeps sharing ocean fun facts and innocently asking about your day and what you're doing later. if eren points out his crush, then he starts to become a blushing and flustered mess around you - so fingers crossed that eren doesn't say anything so you can see armin more put together.

if they lived somewhere near water and have been surfing for years, then it's a bit different. they have a certain confidence to them that comes with 12 years of surfing. they both started lessons when they were about 10 because that's what all the cool kids did! plus their guardians really wanted them to make friends pls. perhaps you meet them because you're new to town and wanted to take lessons, and one is teaching? or perhaps you're lounging at the beach and happen to watch? you're visiting a friend in the town and they take you to the beach where the annual surfing contest is taking place and you see one or both of them? who knows - there's endless possibilities.

eren is the one most likely to enter contests, and armin is the one you're most likely to see surfing by himself in the ocean. both are equally likely to teach (probably together?). both are flustered messes when you talk to them - stuttering and blushing so hard up to their ears. eren's got a pretty tan to him, and armin has freckles on his cheeks and shoulders from copious sun exposure. both have a pretty wave to their hair from the salt water. armin likes to take you out into the ocean, both sitting on his board, or you both sitting on your own boards, and watching the sun set. with eren, he eggs you on and tries to get you to practice with him and maybe even enter a contest.

I been over armin in the pokemon au in my mind like a religion for months now and I personally came up with the conclusion he would be a daycare worker for pokemon and he would favor water types but loves all of them and he would completely have a dragonite and scared shitless of mr mime cause fuck that pokemon

for me, i hc him as trying to become a researcher/professor, so he currently works under hange's supervision :(( like you, i think his favourite is water types

he got a psyduck from hange because if he can't handle that, then he probably won't be a good researcher. so his buddy is psyduck, and even tho armin wants to bang his own head against the wall - he could absolutely do no harm to psyduck or give it up :(. i also hc him with a dragonite!! and a lapras (makes for researching water pokemon a lot easier)
