The high percentage of martensite improves the hardenability of steel. The transformation process is also enhanced by manganese due to the reduction of critical quench speed.
Ballistic performance
This steel characteristic is judged upon the steel’s ability to withstand a bullet. In addition, the initial impact phase, stress propagation phase, and fracture initiation phase are tested when a shot is fired.
