Mako and Raleigh meet on an ace/aro support website.
Mostly, Mako uses it to find other people who wants a simple hook up, no strings attached fun; but Raleigh is setting up a special float in Pride this year, and had asked for help with the electronics;
It’s going to be very pretty; with white and purple and black flashing bulbs; Raleigh pulls at his paint-splattered jumper as he pins the last banners in place, “You should ride with us;”
Mako shakes her head, “I am not ace;”
“I know, but-” Raleigh shrugs, “You are on the website.”
“I am aromantic,” she corrects gently, “I do not feel- comfortable being part of Pride;”
Raleigh helps her up, “We’re inclusive,”
Mako knows, Sensei and Mr Hansen are marching with the armed forces, “I know;”
Raleigh looks at her, then shrugs, “Okay, do you want to go for a coffee?”
Mako looks at him but there’s notthing but friendliness in his face, and maybe a little awe at her mechanical skills; Mako feels herselff preen a little; “I would like that.”
