Protip: If your hedgehog is agitated, put a TINY* dab of vanilla extract on a washcloth and place it nearby. It works wonders, even when they’re actually resisting settling down.

*Hedgehogs have very sensitive noses, and vanilla extract contains a lot of alcohol, so be careful not to use too much or force it too close until it has had a little time to evaporate. If you can smell it, your hedgie can definitely smell it.
