The Arqs
The Arqs are a species made entirely out of light, their name actually meaning light in their language. Even though their race is extinct, they live on in Hiroshi and Artemis, having the soul of a Arq while they live in artificial, human like bodies.
The Arqs were a peaceful race, creating their own planet called Arqunem and its inhabitants. They consist of Edens, Elementals, and Beasts.
Edens are basically humans in every sense of the word. Elementals are sentient beings who's bodies are made entirely out of a element, that being either fire, water, etc. Beasts are humanoid beings that were originally ordinary animals, but thanks to a bond they made with a Arq, they changed into a half animal, half human creature. Even though there are most Beasts out in the wild, there are still rare sightings of ordinary animals.
The Arqs disappeared one day, turning into crystal like beings as their souls lay dormant in them.
Note: Alright so, this is all made up. I made all of this up for a book I'm writing called Creation of Light. Hiroshi, one of the only living Arqs left, is the main character of the book.
