Penang airport hit by flood

GEORGE TOWN, April 1:
Sudden unusual heavy downpour caused a flash flood outside Penang International Airport in Bayan Lepas here in the early hours of the morning.
It was learnt that the exit compound area of the arrival hall flooded due to unexpected heavy rain, five times higher than usual this morning.
The excess rainwater spilled into the vehicle waiting area despite the recent installation of a new drain system under the RM250 million upgrading works.
This follows a series of flooding incidences which happened in March, September and November last year
