So... if everybody asks you why do you think Megamind is bi, then why don't you answer? There must be something that hints it and I am really curious.
Honestly, because I’m not sure how to respond. A lot of these comments sound like skepticism rather than curiosity.
But I’ll try. Key word being “try”. I’ll probably word this very poorly.
Basically there is nothing in canon that confirms that Megamind is straight (same with nothing confirming he is bi) and because I— and many people I know both in the fandom and out of— are bi as well, it’s comforting to think that a character I admire and consider my favorite “superhero” could be bi himself.
And that’s my probably-selfish answer that I think some people want to hear so they can write the idea off as my one-sided bullcrap. But the funny thing is bisexuality is a very real thing that is often written off like some weird myth. Yes, Megamind is clearly interested in Roxanne, but this doesn’t magically erase any attraction he may feel towards other people.
And what other people? Raised on a planet of humans or not, he’s still an alien surrounded by others who are not his species. Because there’s next to nothing known about his species, their range of gender and sexuality and etc, it’s unfair to assume he’d be attracted to one gender— and one human gender at that.
Megamind has a seriously extreme fanboy-like obsession with Metro Man. Everything about his actions around him screams “LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME”. This could be taken multiple ways, but as a bisexual, I look at his behavior and see a long-time crush. Or an extreme admiration of sorts gone into the realm of “I’m not sure if I want to do you or BE you!” He’s extremely excited to wear Metro Man’s cape, compliments his “great hair”, touches his face, blushes like a strawberry when Metro Man touches him, goes WAY out of his way to get noticed by him, and just… I don’t know. I see it. A lot.
Kind of one of those things where you have to live it to really see it, I suppose.
Fandom seems to be totally on board with him being bisexual, and really, Megamind being attracted to his/other genders would have no impact on his relationship with Roxanne.
(Oh, and on that note, fandom is totally cool with Metro Man being gay, too. Or asexual. It’s all cool!)
There just needs to be more queer people in media, being taken seriously. I think Megamind would be the perfect character for Dreamworks to confirm as bisexual, but since its not likely they ever will (because that would require acknowledging the fandom exists) then fandom has said so!
