Closed RP | Midnight Sparr (with team ANKR)
Quiet nights were hard to come by in team UMBR's dorm. Mostly due to the fact that Mordecai and Umbra liked to show that they hated each other by squabbling till sunrise. But the one night that Mordecai and Umbra were in their respective beds snoring away, Bastille couldn't sleep.
She had been woken up by an unpleasant memory in the form of a dream haunting her. She thought she had left that life behind when she came to Beacon. But the memory kept replaying in her mind incessantly.
Her blue eyes followed the edges of the ceiling once, twice, several times. It fell onto Mordecai's clock hanging on the adjacent wall. 1:24 am. She had been awake for nearly an hour now.
Sighing, she got up from her bed, immediately folding the blanket out of habit. She might as well go to the training grounds and train until she was tired enough to pass out. It was nearly the same as sleeping, she figured as she tied on her leg bracers. Truth be told, it would be better if she didn't wear any armor while sneaking out after curfew, but she felt oddly vulnerable without her armor.
Getting out of the room was easy, because when her teammates were finally asleep, they slept like logs. Her lack of armor enabled her to move virtually soundless through the empty academy. She made a beeline for the training ground, one of the places that she had finally memorized the route to.
Expecting it to be devoid of people, Bastille paused when she heard the quick erratic thwacking of a wooden sword on a dummy. She looked through one of the windows carefully, seeing the leader of team ANKR hacking away at the dummy with wild abandon. Pieces of other broken training swords were on the ground. Bastille frowned. She was swinging too hard and would break or severely hurt her wrists if she didn't stop.
Suddenly, Bastille realized what Arryn was doing. The tall former Knight leapt purposefully through the window and silently made her way to the team leader, not making her presence known. Arryn kept hitting the dummy until her wooden sword finally fractured and flew out of her hand. She was breathing hard and sweat soaked her shirt.
Bastille picked up a new sword for Arryn just as the team leader reached for a new one. An unreadable expression crossed Arryn's face as she paused.
"...Would you like to sparr?" Bastille asked, her quiet voice echoing faintly through the empty training grounds.
