Art!verse headcanon:

Until he meets Alex, Hamish rarely uses any colour in his artwork. He has a fascination with light and shadow, and how they look on human bodies and faces. He prefers working with pencils and ink, but even his paintings are usually in shades of black and white. However, after he and Alex become friends, he slowly starts to introduce more colour. By the end of the year, most of his assignments are bright and colourful, still in his style, but more vivid -- more alive. @gunmetalgreyeyes

"You could take a picture, you know. It’d last longer."

Seated with his back turned against the stranger, Hamish was sketching an elderly woman’s hand in his little notebook. He’d heard someone walking up to him, and after taking a quick look, he’d seen the girl’s reflection in a puddle across from where he was sitting.

Ugh. She’d been watching him during art history the day before. What did she want from him…?

"Plus, you’d have something to turn in for tomorrows assignment. They’ll probably tell you it’s a bit cliché, but… who cares, right?"
