The theme for October was 🥚‘EGG’🍳I figured this was perfect! My interest in egg art has boomed this year, should be a breeze to do alongside Inktober. Problem was, it took me so long to find an idea, especially since I wanted to do something to tie-in to the spooky season. It wasn’t until I found an interesting fact, according to Reginald Scott’s ‘A Discoverie of Witchcraft’ 1584, witches sailed the sea in eggshells to conjure storms. It became tradition for children to smash eggshells so they couldn’t be stolen by witches.
This was perfect! Three of my favourite things combined; nautical, egg art and Halloween!
Due to Inktober, I didn’t get to do a fully coloured-piece in time, so it was left in pen & ink. I also brought-along the collection of wooden eggs I painted this year. Methink’s I’ll revisit this picture at Easter and paint it digitally.
I loved seeing everyone else’s pieces too. They learned I wasn’t kidding when I said the egg was such a satisfying shape. I especially loved how another one of us did this gorgeous “chakra dragon” I almost bought it off her then and there.
