for anyone who sees this, does anyone know what specific style Aliya’s hair is? i wanna stay respectful to her hair in my drawings but cannot seem to find the right references
Hey, could you guys recommend some good videos on comic making? I'm trying to make sure that I at least get chapter one, maybe two out this year and I want to make sure that once my story is settled and fully written (which in my words means there's over 25 chapters 😭) I can start working on sketching and script writing
Idk my art doesn't really do numbers on ig or twitter. What am i doing wrong?
Genuine question but do you guys have any suggestions for tutorials on webcomic layout? I'm hoping to finally finalize my webcomics plot by the 24th, and possibly finish scripting chapter 1 but I'm not exactly the best at comic layout
Any help is appreciated!!
hello lemon wedges, what do you use to draw digitally? how are you so good 😭
daww thank you for the ask TTuTT
well it depends on what i’m doing? For line art stuff i use clip studio (if u can get it on sale its like $20!!) its got a great stabilizer to smooth out lines (fantastic for someone with the messiest rough sketches). its also great for laying in flat colors!! (and if ur wondering what brush its just the regular texture one they have with adjusted pen pressure settings so i dont get extreme thin and thick tapers)
when i paint tho. i use photoshop. mostly cause i like their brushes a bit more but also cause its the program im most use to editing with.
also!!! use references!! cant get a pose down? cant figure out a light source? fabric making u cry? take a pic of urself in the pose/light/clothes u want and use it while u work. Its a lot easier to see what mistakes ur making when u know what to compare it to. (u can use internet refs too but i just find it a lot easier to make them since i can pose myself in the exact way need)
...and also just a lot practice u_u you’ll get there buddy, i believe in you
For your most recent Harumi drawing!
Sure! Btw, I use procreate on the iPad Pro. I usually merge most of my layers together at the end of a drawing, so for the first few images it will be low quality bc they’ll be screenshotted from procreate’s built in time lapse! I can upload the whole video if u want too ^w^
Sketch! Try to figure out where everything is, it doesn’t need to be neat/perfect
This is a bit of a jump but stay with me - Here I just used a dark red brush and made the lineart. Then, I did flat colors. After the flat colors I turn the lineart into “multiply mode” You’ll notice the dark red blends nicely with the flat colors, allowing for painting to be easier/the lineart to almost disappear later on! Also ignore I did the red eyes already, I was a little too excited for the concept XD but usually you would keep it for last!
Multiply layer + clipping mask, make sure you know where the light source is!
This looks way different but all I did was use a brush to outline the beam of light. Turn the layer to multiply mode as well! I used a dark red/purple for this I believe, but it will change depending on the drawing! Also make sure to color under the parts that will bend around the face, I recommend looking at human skull anatomy to figure out where to put the shadows 👀
Lighting! I used a white brush to outline the tips closest to the light source, then added a bit of white airbrush on top of that! I’m pretty sure I’m on “add/glow” mode
And done! All I did was choose a color I thought would fit(red) and outlined the part closest to the second light source. Normal mode ftw! Also add a bit of red airbrush to make it glowwww(important note for the lighting! Use a VERY saturated color or it won’t look as spooky uwu)
Time taken for this drawing: A little less than an hour!
Thanks for hanging out on Vao rambles! I hope I was able to help and good luck with your drawings!
