I founds this here!!: http://dilemmabovary.tumblr.com/post/100034156427/40-art-history-questions consider yourself tagged if you're into art nerd stuff.
Who is your favorite Artist?-Augh it's a tie between Bosch, Vermeer, and Chagall. Probably Vermeer. Kilmt is an honorable mention.
Who do you think is the most overrated artist and why?-I'm gonna go with Leonardo da Vinci. Yes, he definitely was super talented, but the guy NEVER finished ANYthing. I think he was more of a scientist and inventor than an artist. I will never get over the tragedy of the Last Supper paint experiment…
Who do you think is the most underrated artist and why? -Probably some abstract artist…like Picasso. I hate it when people look at a Picasso and say they could do that. You are welcome to try. You will fail. Picasso could draw…really well. Photo-realistically well. He just got bored and decided to branch out.
Favorite Renaissance Artist-Botticelli y'all.
Favorite Baroque Artist-Vermeer!
Favorite Rococo Artist-Eh…not a huge fan of the Rococo period.
Favorite Neo-classical Artist-Nope.
Favorite Romantic Artist-I've always liked most of J.M.W. Turner's stuff. That guy was pretty dedicated. He liked to paint storms, and once tied himself to the mast of a ship to get the full experience.
Favorite Realist Artist-Haven't really studied that period much.
Favorite Impressionist Artist-Why do you make me choose? Monet has always had a special place in my heart.
Favorite Post Impressionist Artist-I know it's cliche…but Van Gogh. How can you not love that guy?
Favorite Symbolist-Don't have one.
Favorite Art Nouveau Artist-I have recently started really liking Art Nouveau, but don't know many artists of the period.
Favorite Cubist/Futurist/Constructivist Artist-Ah…Picasso.
Favorite Fauvist Artist-I feel bad I don't know what Fauvist means.
Favorite Surrealist Artist-Dali is pretty amazing.
Favorite Abstract Expressionist/Modernist/Pop Art artist-Ugh. No.
Favorite Post-Modern Artist-No.
Favorite Contemporary Artist-Honestly…haven't found anything I like. I think this is kind of a stagnant period in art history.
Favorite Photographer-Not super familiar with many photographers names. Now I'm starting to feel like I know way less than I thought.
Favorite Sculptor-Michelangelo.
Which do you like better Sculpture or Painting? -Probably painting, but sculpting is stunning as well.
Do you create art?-I try.
What is your favorite medium to work in?-Probably pen and ink, watercolor, charcoal. Paint and I still have some issues to work out.
What is your least favorite art movement?-Abstract/Expressionist, mainly because that category is the easiest to make complete BS and call it art.
What exhibitions/retrospectives do you want to see in person one day. -I would love to go to the Louvre, or the Ufizzi in Italy. Anywhere art museum in Italy I'll take.
What is your most memorable museum experience. -Gosh. I got to go to the MET and the Frick in New York last January, and both those were pretty amazing. I got to see the Girl with the Pearl Earring in person and that was surreal, and stunning.
Outside of Western and European Art, what are your interests.-I actually am really starting to like Eastern art, like traditional Chinese art. There is a wonderful elegance about it.
List something random and interesting you know about art/art history. -The first thing that came to mind was that Caravaggio killed a guy by castrating him. Don't mess with Caravaggio man…
Are there any themes in art that you think are overdone?-Yes. Pointing to something random and calling it art. Or creating "invisible art". I guess the theme of pulling stuff out of your ass and calling it art?
Do you like contemporary art?-I haven't seen anything that's blown me away. Yes I am a snob.
If you could own any famous work of art, what would you choose?-Gahhhh…umm…Bosch's Garden of Earthly delights, Vermeer's the Letter, Cafe Arles at Midnight by Van Gogh…the list goes on.
What museums have you visited? The Blanton (which sucks) Houston Museum of Modern art, the Kimble, the Dallas Museum of art, the MET, the MOMA, the Frik…
What museums do you want to visit?-The Louvre…anything in Italy.
If you could travel back in time what era would you choose and why?-The Renaissance. It would be so cool to see such a gorgeous era of art coming into existence…
Is there any artist that you would want to be friends with if you could in real life?-I have a feeling me and Bosch might get along really well. Maybe Chagall. Chagall sounds pretty neat.
Is there any artist you think you would hate in real life?-Hate is extreme, but Caravaggio doesn't sound too pleasant.
Why do you think Art is important?-It's an outlet for us to express our humanity, and the Goodness, the Beauty and Truth of God and the world around us. It communicates without words, goes beyond language.
Do you think public art is important?-Yes as long as it doesn't suck.
What is your favorite art movement? -Renaissance and Post-Impressionists.
