The extremely high level of artistic skill in fan communities means that I can no longer differentiate between officially licensed promotion art, and fan works.
For this reason, I’d like to clarify something: if I tag something as fan art, I mean that it’s associated with a known franchise. I’ve got no reliable way to say for sure they’re a fan, but anyway. This way, I can split franchise art and non-franchise art in my tags.
So if anyone’s been paid for the work they do and feel that the tag is disparaging in any way, please know that wasn’t my intention; you’re all just too talented!
