2025 lawsan art summary + some thoughts
It makes me really happy to see that people like my Transformers Dispatch art I’m honestly so proud of it and I’m glad people like it
I’m working on the next character now but he’s a bit slow going because unlike roddy I’ve never drawn him before but i hope you all like him!
im becoming really dissatisfied with how im drawing lately (art block incoming!) so usually when im stuck in a rut like this its time to do smth new that isnt just "ok let's redraw this character in the style of someone i like." That's historically been a surefire way to frustrate myself. instead i have to. Start doing life studies again. Which means. Going outdoors and drawing from life again.
I CAN DRAW AGAINNNNN
First of all, I wanted to say that my English isn't the best, so please excuse me if something sounds strange. Getting straight to the point: I AM COMPLETELY IN LOVE WITH YOUR ART! I love how you create, assemble, and make everything so incredibly adorable. I also need to mention the emotions and expressions you manage to convey in your drawings!
That being said, I have a question. You have a video teaching how to draw in your style (especially Mobius and Loki). If someone is inspired by this style and makes some small changes, would it be correct to say that the style is theirs?
I ask this because I was testing some brushes and, since I still had plenty of paper left, I made some sketches trying your style. In that case, would you say the drawing is more yours than mine? Whenever I make sketches using elements of your style—like the shape of the nose, eyes, or hair—would I need to give you credit?
I think this got a little confusing, sorry😭
omg i love when people ask me art-related questions!! Firstly tysm ❤️❤️❤️ i’m so glad you enjoy my silly drawings.
regarding your question, i’ve been drawing for 6 years now (consistently) and i too have taken many many artstyles as examples, like i the MHA style or artist youtubers i really followed and of course to mimic their style, that i really liked and wanted to imitate, i would copy exactly their drawings,; now that i would not consider my own art but a replica of someone else’s.
if i instead study that style, study the way the make those lines and why they chose them for a particular drawing or character, and then make a completely new drawing based on those studies, that i would call an original artwork.
it’s complicated in the art world to define what is copied and what is original, nothing is fully original as we utilize what we have in our mind, so concepts, images from art we’ve seen before, real life and put it all together like a big soup.
so if you would like any explanation of my style or how i draw lokius specifically i would be very happy to help; i’ve spent the last 2 years trying to represent them in the most simplified and interesting way possible, like if i go and watch my first lokius fanart i would shiver, i think they are so wonky and off ahahahha but that’s just because i had just started.
you can use my style to draw them but as everyone has their own inner style i would much recommend to study and take from mine only what you like more!! Art is the putting together what we feel and what we like so have fun!
Also if you want to copy someone’s art to study it then i would suggest to keep it as sketch, or if you want to post it then to give credit and say explicitly that the artwork was a study of someone else’s piece, so there is no draw.
if you’d like i could also share some of the artists i took inspiration from in my art journey or just make a more detailed video of my process :3
thank you so so much for you question and i hope you got you answers❤️❤️
i will say even though ive missed a few days, aphtober has really forced me out of my comfort zone and for that, im so glad i did it. thats the point of inktober and awkwardly, why i always ditched inktober one week in in the past :^ glad i can learn more and broaden my range with this :]
