YES WHEN I SAW THAT HAPPEN I JUST COULDN'T COMPREHEND WILL WOULD FEEL THAT MUCH EMOTION TO KILL HIS SURROGATE DAUGHTER. THAT WOULD imply that he saw her as either good or evil, which i know he doesn't. he saw her, before, as a girl who was thrown into a situation that she had no control over, then HE threw accusations at her. do you think he was so out of his mind that he couldn't piece together what was going on in her mind? the guilt, the fear?????
Wow, I feel like I'm becoming some sort of field expert on Abigail and Will... I'm ok with that.OK FINE!! I actually went to rewatch the scene (wow, I'm still crying) aaaand. You know, it doesn't make sense for Will to attack Abigail because just before they were both reaching out to each other. Abigail talking about her mom, about doing family things... that was her asking Will to bring some normality in her life. Not doing what she did with her parents ok, like, not replacing something that can't be replaced (that was his mistaking, proposing to reenact that dynamic), but to start new traditions together to move on. To get away from Garret Jacob Hobbs shadows together. That was so much trust hidden in those scenes: Abigail following him, opening up to him, talking to him, worrying about him... Abigail wanted Will and her to get better together, to bury the past once and for all and finally become their own persons, free of their pasts. This is how Abigail heals: not with group therapy or hospitals or all those things that do nothing but depress her, but by confronting her demons and fighting against them, by gaining knowledge of herself, of what she is and what she can do. She wants Will to do the same, to accept that there is nothing wrong with either of them, they don't need to be cured, THEY'RE NOT SICK!Hannibal is their harbor, the firm point they can both count on while exploring and self examining who they are, what they can do, their demons: at least, I think, that was Abigail's hope. The actual scene of the “attack”: I think Will didn't see Abigail as Abigail, but he saw her as a shadow of Garret Jacob Hobbs design. And that was SO WRONG!! SO COMPLETELY NOT WILL! I'm still so upset. After building so much intimacy and trust between them, after setting new stones for their relationship, after building a bridge between them and giving new life to their relationship... what happens? Everything ends in shit. Nothing about that scene made sense, to be honest.Even if Will had finally seen Abigail's darkness, his first instinct would have been, once again, to protect her, to defend her in every way. Surely not to impale (or dreaming of) impaling her in antlers! It didn't make sense in the logic of the series or even in the logic of the episode! In my opinion it was poor writing; Fuller mentioned that another character was going to die instead of Abigail in s1 I think, but then they changed it (and after reading s2 anticipations, I CAN ONLY IMAGINE WHO *sarcasm*) and that fucked up everything. It wasn't “part of Hannibal's design” (why would he ever want something like that to happen? Abigail is the strongest link between him and Will), it was just poor writing.Yeah... in the end there were so many possibilities that have been completely erased and a beautiful and blossoming relationship and friendship was destroyed. Can you tell I'm upset???Wow this is long and boring... I'm sorry D:
