Food for thought. Chains should only be used when the environment requires a chain. A true chain occurs when the next behavior can only be done if the animal does the previous behavior .....for example climbing a ladder. #orca2019 #behaviorchains #artandscienceofanimaltraining #chains #behaviorscience https://www.instagram.com/p/BuO8EhHlS5L/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=mo7brdmqo9md
Dr Joe Layng explaining how following a discriminative sequence makes the difference between a good jazz drummer and a great one.... science in music and animal training #orca2019 #discrimintivesequence #drjoelayng #artandscienceofanimaltraining https://www.instagram.com/p/BuO4eGalzu1/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=z8bzocyddohk
It’s begun! My favorite conference. And already I’ve had conversations that dive deep into topics not usually on the agenda elsewhere in the animal training community. HUGE turnout. Hope you deep thinkers are here! #ORCA2019 #behaviorchains #artandscienceofanimaltraining #drallistonreid #keynote https://www.instagram.com/p/BuOqaIuFA9I/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=v6qqep0vx7xv
Here’s an intriguing idea.... different marker to signal different types of reinforcers are forthcoming and different type of responses are a part of that criteria... such as staying calm while that reinforcer is delivered or keeping the high state of arousal. Think calm animal for cooperating in medical care and super excited for an agility run. Thanks @kikopup for the thought provoking ideas and cool videos #orca2018 #artandscienceofanimaltraining #artandscienceofanimaltrainingconference #dogtraining
Dr Joe Layng just made dinosaurs stomp all around the audience using augmented reality. Cool! #asat2018 #orca2018 #augmentedreality #joelayng #artandscienceofanimaltraining #artandscienceofanimaltrainingconference
Super cool write up on my presentation from the Art and Science of Animal Training Conference by Katie Bartlett. THX Katie! http://ow.ly/CKKY30alibo Lots more on her blog too. #orca2017 #artandscienceofanimaltraining #animaltrainingconference #animaltraining
What a privilege to be included in this group of scientists, trainers and students. Note to my zoo training professionals: put your funding requests in now to attend next year's conference. Registration sold out in 6 weeks once it was open. Get the latest info at artandscienceofanimaltraining.com #animaltraining #animaltrainingconference #artandscienceofanimaltraining #orca2017
