“NIKOLA TESLA”
by Sipros
Established in 2014 by @ManaContemporary the Mana Urban Arts Project is devoted to large-scale, site-specific installations by renowned street artists from around the world. A year later Mana began collaborating with @TheBushwickCollective gathering 50 influential artists to paint in Wynwood during @MiamiArtWeek, and in 2016 this Sipros wall near NW 5th Ave and 23rd St was part of their ongoing collaboration. Brazilian artist Wellington Naberezny, better known as Sipros, began by painting on subways in New York City and now is best known for his carefully rendered “Big Ears” portraits of children. Beginning in 2009 however, @BeyondWallsLynn reports that Sipros also launched a series of faces of both the famous and not so famous—including this portrait of Serbian-American electrical engineer Nikola Tesla (1856–1943). @sipros_sipros
