Chatzy Party January 15th, 1019 A.D.
The Burke Twins throw tantrums.
Thaddeus looked around and said hello
Thaddeus looked around, his eyes scanning over as people filtered in, nerves wracking his stomach which, naturally, were calmed by the large cup of wine in his hand, 'Evening. evening.'
Magrat hadn't been directly invited into the feast, but due to knowing a friend of a friend of a friend... she considered herself somewhat worthy of attending. The young woman looked around the room before walking past a host. She smiled kindly, nodded, and said, "Evening, sir. I do hope the meal is just as promising as the decorative surroundings."
Thaddeus smiled a little, looking over over, 'You know, so do I, but I didn't cook it, so chances are that it will be divine.'
Elijah Burke: Hello...
Artemisia joined the chat 4 minutes ago
Elijah Burke: "grabbed a drink off of the table and swishes it nervously in his hand"
Elijah Burke grabbed a drink off of the table and swishes it nervously in his hand
Artemisia smiles at the man standing to her right. "Are you going to drink that or just stare at it?" she says before picking up one for herself and taking a small sip.
Abigail joined the chat
Elijah Burke glances to the girl on his left and smiles weakly. "Oh I'll drink it. Eventually."
Elijah Burke stuck out his hand "I'm Count Elijah Burke."
Abigail smirks and addressed the room in general. "What've I missed?"
Artemisia shakes his hand. "Artemisia. Nice to make your acquaintance.
Abigail steps in front of Magrat and looks her up and down. "You look like you know where the drinks are being served. Care to join?"
Artemisia laughs. "I'm aware. If it's too much for you to handle, you're welcome to call me Artie."
Magrat raises her head up a little. "The location in which they serve the drinks isn't a part of my knowledge. Join in conversation and alcohol? My pleasure."
Elijah Burke joined the chat
Abigail strides over a table next to the opposite wall there Thaddeus had left copious amounts of mead. "And we should need some party games to entertain us."
Elijah Burke "Oh if you insist. It's such a pretty name though. I'd much rather call you Artemisia."
Elizabeth joined the chat
Abigail begins to pour tankards.
Abigail is peeved she's been reduced to barmaid when there are elves for this sort of manual labor.
Abigail beams at the Countess's entrance. "Countess, you've decided to come after all."
Artemisia "In that case, I look forward to hearing someone use my full name. It rarely gets much use when it's not a part of an introduction."
Abigail tries to move behind the bar so the "borrowed" gown from the Countess is less noticeable.
Elijah Burke "Agh That's regrettable to hear. It fits a woman such as yourself."
Abigail: [Abigail is the Countess's handmaid, jsyk]
Elizabeth enters, looking slightly disheveled and rather irritated. "Well, it seems someone misplaced my new slippers. Or perhaps she is wearing those as well?"
Magrat takes a goblet of wine in her hand, peering over the rim as Abigail addresses the Countess.
Elijah Burke glances over to see his twin and smiles. But then notices her foul mood and tightens his lips.
Abigail feigns innocence. "Would you like a drink, Countess?"
Elizabeth keeps her gaze on her maid. "No, Abigail, I'll simply stand here and watch everyone else drink." She hardly ever resorts to sarcasm, but now she's in a bit of a mood.
Magrat tries to refrain from smiling. She's certainly had her fair share of getting caught wearing the trinkets she's stolen from others, and it was only humorous to her when the confrontational happened to another person rather than herself.
Abigail nudges Magrat. "Would you care for a drink?"
Elijah Burke turns to Artemisia, "If you could excuse me for a few minutes. I will be return in a short while."
Artemisia "Oh, of course. It was a pleasure to meet you."
Elijah Burke quickly walks over to Elizabeth and lightly touches her arm, "Hello dear sister."
Elizabeth places her hands on her hips and looks towards her brother.
Artemisia: [okay, I can't multitask. I'll be back in a few]
Elijah Burke: [sorry for the confusion. I just changed back to this lighter green]
Elijah Burke To Elizabeth, "You seemed....troubled..no..more than that. I am guessing more around frustrated."
Elizabeth "Abigail, I was being sarcastic, you know." She turns back to her brother and offers him a smile. "You're quite right, as usual. Who was the girl?"
Abigail takes a large unladylike gulp from her tankard.
Elijah Burke "Artemisia. Although I did not catch her last name. I think of friend of Hufflepuff's."
Magrat looks between all three until she catches the name 'Artemisia'.
Magrat "Artemisia the Loon? Rather peculiar, that one is..."
Magrat: [Guessing that that's what the students call her...]
Elijah Burke looks at Magrat, "The Loon? She seemed ...somewhat sane....And who are you may I ask?"
Abigail scoffs. "With a name like that, how could she be anything else?"
Elizabeth wrinkles her nose. "Whatever were you talking to her for? ABIGAIL! Really!" She shoots another glare at her drinking maid, then looks to the brunette now speaking. "She did look a bit loony, didn't she?"
Elijah Burke turns to Abigail, "I think her name is pretty. Unlike yours."
Abigail feigns a blush and pours her lady a tankard.
Elizabeth studies her brother for a moment. "Always did have a penchant for red-heads."
Elijah Burke looks back at Artemisia and notices the odd qualities about her, but can't help but smile a bit. Blinks and turns back to Liz, "Excuse me?"
Abigail she hands it to the Countess, placing a cloth napkin around it for condensation. "Thank you"
Magrat gives the man a closed-lipped smile, raising her goblet a bit. "Magrat." She looks over at the Countess and says, "She's quite the character indeed."
Magrat quirks an eyebrow up when the Countess mentions his liking towards red-haired damsels.
Elizabeth refrains from rolling her eyes and sips her drink. "Don't waste too much time on him, Magrat. You're not gingery enough."
Abigail whispers an aside to Magrat, "I bet she charms her hair. Nothing can mimic a carrot so closely without the aid of transfiguration."
Elijah Burke nods in recognition to Magrat. "I am Count Elijah Burke. Nice to meet you. Elizabeth.
Elijah Burke glares at sister with clenched jaw.
Elizabeth simply gives her brother an innocent smile, then focuses on listening into the gossip.
Abigail sighs. "Anyone for a party game?
Magrat shakes her head, corner of her lip turned upwards as she looks over at the Count's direction, saying, "I'm not one to chase after fellows so quick. 'sides, I like being brunette."
Elijah Burke frowns at Liza. "Excuse me, I have a to ask a certain Lady to a dance." Leaves group and walks back over to Artemisia
Magrat smiles in amusement at Abigail's remark and also the Count's actions.
Elizabeth stares after her brother, her mouth hanging open for one unladylike moment. "I...what?!"
Elijah Burke: [I'm cackling]
Abigail huffs, "Is she even pureblood?"
Elijah Burke smiles at Artemisia and holds out his hand, "May I ask you for a dance, my Lady Artemisia?"
Magrat: [I thought her RPer was gone, lol?]
Elijah Burke: [she might....]
Abigail: [yeah... she brb'ed]
Elijah Burke: [whoops]
Magrat: [I'm imagining him talking to air, lmfao.]
Artemisia: [I literally just came back xD]
Elijah Burke: [yay]
Elizabeth: [Liz is wearing her bitch face XD]
Abigail sighs. "Magrat, was it? I'm Abigail."
Elijah Burke: [oh I bet]
Elizabeth drains her goblet and hands it back to Abigail, disrupting her conversation. "More."
Artemisia tilts her head in mild confusion. "Of course."
Abigail glares and refills the cup with mostly foam before handing it back. "As you like, Countess."
Elijah Burke looks back over at sister and smirks for a bit. Turns back to Artemisia. "Wonderful." Takes hand in his own and puts the other on her waist.
Magrat nods with a small smile, about to reply when Elizabeth interrupts. She closes her mouth until she sees the other is finished with her task and says, "Yes. Lovely to make your acquaintance, miss."
Artemisia follows the Count's lead and tries to think of small talk. "That's your sister, isn't it?"
Elijah Burke nods simply. "We are twins. Not hard to figure out, I presume. Do you have any siblings?"
Magrat looks over at the Count, fighting the giggles to erupt from her mouth as a result from the clear act of defiance. Nothing was better than watching a good 'ol round of family feuds.
Elizabeth takes a sip of foam and turns to her maid and Magrat. "What's so funny, Margery?"
Abigail smiles. " I have this little game I like to play--it's rather on the cruel side but the Count is under my skin. Are you in?"
Elijah Burke: [oh no]
Artemisia frowns. "No. I'm an only child."
Artemisia: [this isn't going to end well...]
Elizabeth: [AHAHAHAH]
Magrat turns back with a little frown on her lips. "My name is Magrat," she smiles as quickly as it had left and continues, "Your brother. Is he always like that?" The young woman looks at Abigail. "What game?"
Elijah Burke awkwardly clears throat. "Oh um....sorry. Where are you from?"
Elizabeth waves her hand at Magrat, dismissing her and Abigail and moving away from the women. "'Tis not like I wanted to dance anyway."
Abigail: [lol because I know Artiemisia's history]
Magrat: [Ah! Gotta go to bed! Gotta take exams first thing in the morning! Night!]
Artemisia: [ quick geography question. ]
Elijah Burke: [fuck I don't. And night! ]
Abigail: [alll ok! good luck tomorrow!]
Artemisia: [Artemisia doesn't have a hometown yet, but I want her to be from close to where the Norsemen are. That's North West of Hogwarts, yeah? And goodight1]
Elizabeth leans against one of the pillars, drink in hand. "Really...she's not that pretty."
Abigail: [lol miranda, don't peek it'll ruin it and go right ahead with the q's]
Elizabeth: [Liz is gonna talk to herself angrily for a bit. ]
Elijah Burke: [agh alright fine. I won't]
Artemisia "I'm from northwest of here. On the coast. And yourself?"
Abigail: [North east, it was from Denmark and Norway mostly I thinks]
Elijah Burke chuckles a bit "Um Knockturn, obviously."
Abigail sidles up to the Countess
Artemisia: [Okay ,so she meant north east, not west]
Elijah Burke: [got it]
Artemisia crinkles her brow.
Abigail: [it's all good]
Artemisia "I'm not certain why that's obvious."
Elizabeth glares at Abigail. "What?"
Abigail: "Countess, do you know anything about this girl?"
Elijah Burke flinches "Oh I do apologize. I forgot to say where I was a Count of.."
Elijah Burke nervously, "I'm the Count of Knockturn."
Abigail: "She's a halfblood"
Elijah Burke "I apologize profusely."
Artemisia laughs. "I never would have thought that even Counts are occasionally forgetful."
Elijah Burke laughs with her, "I am not perfect by any means. Although I do try my hardest..."
Elizabeth takes another sip of her drink. "I knew it. God, how utterly embarrassing for her!" She turns to her maid, looking less annoyed and more curious. "What else do you know of her?"
Abigail: "Ah," she glances to the girl just entering. "Come join us, I am Abigail. You are the Dame Phyllida?"
Elijah Burke: [ oh no oh no oh no oh no]
Artemisia "It would seem you forgot you manners." She laughs again. "I'll try my best not to hold it against you."
Artemisia: *your
Elijah Burke "I would be ever grateful for that," he said smiling.
Elizabeth drains her second drink. "Also, who would name their daughter Magrat? 'Tis unattractive, don't you think Abigail?"
Elijah Burke: [o.o]
Elizabeth: [gonna be drunken gossip hour up in here soon XD]
Artemisia flashes a faux-serious look at her dancing companion "I suppose you're in luck, because I make a point to never hold a grudge. Even if it would be against a Count with no manners."
Elijah Burke "Perfect. Then I can make as many mistakes as I want."
Elizabeth "How long is this bloody song?!"
Artemisia "As long as you're being yourself. Perfection not required."
Abigail kicks the nearest bard.
Abigail: "Any name with the word Rat is undesirable."
Artemisia: [okay, I am dying of laughter right now]
Elijah Burke "Well I think I'm doing pretty well so far."
Elizabeth takes Abigail's tankard from her and takes a drink. "I think my eye is twitching...is it Abi? The left one? I can feel it."
Abigail lightly smooths the Countess's cheekbone with her thumb. "I cannot detect a difference."
Elijah Burke: [I drew somethign for you guys in the oocism]
Artemisia "I'm inclined to agree. You're quite the dancer, good enough to mask my mediocre steps."
Abigail: "I think the Count is in need of a good hex."
Elizabeth: [lmfaoooooooooo omg]
Elijah Burke "It was my sister that was the one that taught me how to dance. I was horrible at dancing. I detested going out in public."
Elizabeth: [that is tragically beautiful]
Elijah Burke: [basically]
Artemisia "The same sister that you greeted just a few minutes ago?"
Elizabeth frowns, staring at Abigail as if she's suddenly just realized the woman was there. "You must be jesting."
Elijah Burke swallows nervously, "Ah yes. The one with the dress the same color as ....my vest."
Artemisia gives him a confused look "Do the two of you make a habit of wearing matching garments?"
Elizabeth: [I'm still laughing at that drawing. The demon eyes.
Elijah Burke pauses and furrows eyebrows. He doesn't find it weird. "Most of the times yes. Do you find that odd?"
Abigail hesitates before muttering, "Perhaps a jinx that will give him two left feet? But that could backfire and he might careen into her brea--never mind, she seems to be lacking in that respect."
Elizabeth "I don't want him anywhere near that woman's chest, Abigail!"
Elizabeth: [Let's pretend she shouted that.]
Artemisia: [ loud enough for everyone to hear?]
Elizabeth: [Yes, as she's a bit drunk. XD]
Abigail: "I know, perhaps a little spell to--cause him to belch? You are far clever in these matters than I"
Elijah Burke turns around to give Liza a bizzare look. And then turns back to Artemisia, rather embarrassed.
Abigail: *cleverer
Elijah Burke: [go home Liza you're drunk XD]
Artemisia "A bit, but per-" her attention is obviously diverted. "Well it would seem someone drank a bit too much."
Elizabeth frowns, pretending she didn't just yell. "I'm not going to jinx him, Abi! GOD! He doesn't even like dancing!" She dramatically throws her tankard to the ground.
Elijah Burke sighs and rolls his eyes. "Way too much. I apologize for the last time, but I will have to go take care of her. Good night."
Elijah Burke practically glides/stops over to Liza
Artemisia "Good luck with your sister. Have a nice evening."
Elijah Burke Elizabeth. What the hell are you doing?
Elijah Burke: [forgot to close the bold]
Elijah Burke: [but he's annoyed/angry so whatevs]
Abigail shuffles out of the twin's way
Elizabeth glares at her brother. "What the hell are you doing?" She answers his question with the exact same question, because she's creative.
Artemisia tries not to be obvious about the fact that she's watching the goings on
Elijah Burke grabs sister's upper arm. "I was enjoying myself-" Realizes that he's getting too angry and calms down. "Come on. We're going to bed."
Abigail pretends not to be amused by the antics unfolding.
Elizabeth grabs Abigails arm in turn. "If I don't get to stay out late, neither do you."
Elijah Burke: [shit]
Abigail grins and follows.
Elijah Burke stops and glares at Abigail. "No. Not her. Just you."
Elizabeth: [It's like she's five years old.]
Abigail raises an eyebrow at the Count. "I can follow where I please."
Elizabeth frowns. "Stop pulling me. I know how to walk!" She turns to look at her maid again. "Don't spill anything on that dress."
Elijah Burke Jaw sets as he stares at Abigail. "You will do as you are told." Turns to Liza. "You don't know what you are doing. You are too drunk to know."
Elizabeth pulls away from him and marches ahead. "You're too drunk to know."
Artemisia doesn't know whether to be entertained or horrified.
Abigail glowers and glares at the only person left she can; Artemisia
Elizabeth: [This is why there ain't no party like a Burke party cuz a Burke party ends in TANTRUMS.]
Elijah Burke growls in frustration. Turns to Abigail and then sees Artemisia. Stares at her for a moment before going after his sister.
Artemisia laughs and waves.
