Not even the entire ZPD could save your head if they tried. I'll give you two more days. If I do not see any documents on your desk after that, I hope you know the blood of your co-workers is on your paws." This time there was a doodle of her head mounted over a fireplace. It seemed he was not pleased.

Mayor Canidae considered her options. Fire her staff to protect them? Leave the city to take away the leverage?Perhaps this meant war.

With the help of a thermal imaging device and a high-powered rifle, not even the walls of her office in city hall can keep her from being shot...

Assassin. That’s what she knew the threat to be. An unsigned letter with a wicked icon of a wolf’s head in crosshairs. A phone number. A threat. 

Aurelina Canidae had been threatened many times in the past. Being pro-minority in Zootopia was about as popular as being pro-mandatory shaving for furred species. She was in her office still. For a moment she pondered using the office phone, but if it could be traced to her... Well, she didn’t want the media getting a hold of this.

The sun had gone down. Most of city hall, save the security, had left for the day.

The mayor took a deep breath, and dialed the number.
