Arthur Morgan x Lenny Summers
I rarely write non-fic fluff about pairings, but here goes. @arthursummers for finally making a blog about this surprisingly rare pair.
1. At the saloon in Valentine, Lenny is actual sober for a lot more of the night than Arthur. It's rare that he gets a chance to watch the upright Morgan get well and truly trashed. Besides, it's easier to pretend that the reason he likes dancing and laughing and having fun with Arthur is because he's drunk. By the time one of the local whores gets on the bar and sings a sad Irish song (rendering the crowd of grimy men into sad weepy children), he is definitely drunk enough that he can pretend he's slow-dancing with Arthur, not just hanging onto his shirt-front to stay up on his feet.
Side Fact: it was pretty common for men to dance together out West, given the gender disparity. Formal dances would be held, with some men wearing patches to indicate that they'd dance the part normally assumed by the woman. A bunch of drunk guys dancing in a saloon isn't amusing fiction, it likely happened a lot.
2. Arthur isn't pretending, he definitely is trying to slow-dance with Lenny, but he's real drunk and not sure where his feet are going at all times, so he just kinda hugs him around his ribs. Kid is tall and slim like a birch tree and maybe he's just a little scared about squashing him because he is drunk and that makes sense.
3. The real reason they got arrested is because Lenny got back on the bar and started kicking glasses and bottles off as he danced. Arthur is watching from the second floor, having wandered again.
When the cops show up, Arthur yells "HE'S THE MOST BEAUTIFUL MAN ALIVE YOU BASTARDS" as he falls over the banister and into a table.
Not onto, into.
The...the table is no more.
Lenny starts to giggle uncontrollably and, after lurching onto his feet, Arthur does too.
4. In the jail cell, Lenny anxiously asks if Arthur really does think he's the most beautiful man ever. Arthur, tears in his eyes, drunkenly assures him that he is, planting a boozey kiss on his cheek before sliding down onto the floor, leaving behind a trail of drool on Lenny's collar.
