A Captive Audience (with a Pirate King)

She’s seething as she’s dragged into what amounts to a throne room--a large stone chamber, sparsely furnished, empty but for the single high-backed chair near its center and a few candelabras lighting the room--in a fortress at the edge of a seaside cliff. 

Not only has she been stripped of command of her ship and chained in a cage in the hold for the past few months, but now even the small comfort she’d garnered from being on the seas has been stolen from her.

Her newest set of captors haven’t even bothered unchaining her--they’ve tightened her bonds, in fact.

And of course the Pendragon prat is there to see this.

It’s not much consolation that he’s also bound--though not as thoroughly. Apparently, the pirates who’ve caught them think the blond boy’s not as much of a threat as Gwen.

They may be right about that.

She hasn’t had much chance to see the boy in combat, however, doubly--and now triply--imprisoned as she’s been, so she wouldn’t know for certain.

“Gwen, dear, I trust you had a pleasant journey.”

Gwen snarls at the man seated upon the ‘throne’. Tall, long-limbed in a way that skirts gangling, with a scruffily handsome face framed by lank black hair. The man nearly sprawls across his chair with an air that very clearly shows how he’d rather be the pirate he once truly was rather than stationary in a fortress.

“Cenred. Finally grown to take your father’s seat, I see.”

They were finally here at the moment that Merlin had most dreaded. Not because he hadn’t wanted this at all, but he feared the outcome of it. He did not let that fear be known often because he knew Artemis was worried too. Her mother had died of giving birth to her, what if the same thing happened to her? What then? Merlin wasn’t sure if he could bear the loss. And what would he do with a Pendragon heir all on his own and no way to help the child take back their rightful throne without their mother? It was too much too think about and it was thoughts that had kept him up many nights over the past couple of months.

Artemis was being taken in the tent and Merlin felt pretty useless, but he knew that all of the Druids knew that he was panicking much more than he was showing. Though maybe he was showing that panic quite a bit after all. He hurried into the tent after her, unbothered by all of those that was inside of it with them. He would not leave her alone in this moment, no matter how afraid of it all he was.

There was nothing he could do for her pain. No spell, no herb other than what she had already been given would lessen anything she was going through and it made him wish he could take the pain from her. So Merlin took her hand and he slid in behind her, letting her rest against him when need be. She was warm, sweaty with the birthing of their child. Theirs. Still something he had never thought possible and he was pretty sure his hand would end up sore after this whole ordeal. But it would be worth it for her survival and for their heir.

Because he knew.

He knew that their heir was bound, if not promised to be even more destined than they themselves were. And maybe, just maybe even more powerful than he was as well. There had been many times even early on in the pregnancy when he’d felt powerful magic from her stomach. And it had been such a weird feeling to think that they had created that.

“You’ve got this, Artemis. Breathe, you’re doing good. Really really good.”

He lifted a free hand up, wiping away her tears, though truthfully there was no use in it as more would come. Soon enough, however, there was a cry in the room, a wail that brought a sound of relief from everyone there to witness the prophecy beginning. And there was a relief from himself as well because so far, Artemis was fine.

“A daughter,” one of the midwives said as she placed the babe on Artemis’s chest once she was ready for her.

“What will you name her?” A doula asked next.

“Ygraine,” Merlin said, figuring that Artemis may just be alright with him announcing it. “Ygraine Pendragon, Princess of Camelot and heir to the throne.”

They would win back the Kingdom, that much Merlin was certain of. Uther had never approved of his daughter, so much so that she’d run away to join Merlin with the Druids and they’d kept them both safe from the Tyrant of a King.

Their daughter was a squishy face of a baby, but in her own way, adorable all the same. Small tufts of blonde hair could be seen on her forehead and Merlin couldn’t help but smile at that fact.

“I told you she’d have your hair.”

I have been writing for about twenty odd years and I have an undergrad in English. I love fanfiction and rping, and some of the best friendships I have ever made have been formed through rp. I’ve written in a few different fandoms, most recently Marvel with my friend @universesgardener with her Black Order muses, and GOT. Writing has always been a good escape for me and, normally, you can either find me doing so, or reading. They have always been my two big hobbies, and I don’t see that ever changing :-)

I don’t mind memes at all, but I do enjoy the involvement of plotting. I like to form good relationships with other muns and I think plotting is a good way of doing so as you can get to chatting (including about OOC stuff) and forward planning. It’s nice to see the pieces fall into the places another mun and I have set up.

Heels clicked against the floor, the soft clinking of beads as the slight train of her dress followed behind her. The few pieces of hair that framed her face occasionally obstructed her view, but the rest was up in intricate braids brought into an up-do. The shaw around her arms itched, but so did all these human clothes, the shoes pinched; but she didn’t let it show on her face as she walked towards the noise. 

Ella had been around the seal pups, helping them go around the bottom, when she heard a cry. She turned and as the bubbles cleared she saw her sister Freya, a weapon inside her chests before it was pulled away, the seals trying to swim away as Ella flipped her fin quickly towards her sister, as the blood pooled around them. She heard a splash and looked up, only to see another coming towards them. Ella kicked off, swimming away from the crying of the seals as she took her sister away- but by the time she got home her sister had passed and Ella was a wreck, swearing revenge. 

Ella walked through the door, taking in the festivities, none too familiar with the way of the humans. She had gotten a little bit of training, but she had to play it save, think before she spoke. She heard a small hush as she walked in, and her blue eyes roamed to see other eyes look at her. Normally she’d ignore the looks, but one person in particular was looking. She offered a light and inviting smile to him, though she grabbed a goblet when offered one- the golden bracelet looked elegant and expensive, but in reality it was her jail and ticking time clock. 

She’d found him, the man who killed her sister. He was  in charge of his ships at the very least. He was the one who was unloading seals and planned to go back to get more- the idea sending her into a murderous rage. She went the sea witch, who was seemingly amused by the idea of her wanting revenge, and she paid the price regardless. She had signed over her life, if she had not killed the man who’d killed her sister within the next full moon she’d die in his place, as payment for her legs. 

Ella took the goblet, ignoring her bracelet clinking against the goblet, walking straight over to the man. “If you’re going to stare, the least you can do is compliment me.”

    Arthur's own studies were not as...strenuous as Artorius's were. And more often than not, he studied with Gaius rather than stay stuck in the library. His father didn't approve of that and that just made him stay there even more. However, he was being forced to join his brother in the library and he found it all so boring. Even more so was that huge book that his twin was trying to read. He'd tried reading it once and barely got past the first page.

    "You know it will take you ages to memorize that, don't you?" Arthur truly was bored out of his mind, wandering the shelves as he was and contemplating bothering his twin. 

    Artorius wouldn't be pleased about it now, but he might thank him later. His brother was far too serious most of the time and needed to lighten up. So could he be blamed when he reached out and ruffled his hair.

    Laughing delightedly, Arthur ran, dodging around a curious Geoffrey in the process. At this point, he wouldn't be surprised if his brother tackled him down, but he would dodge his every attempt. He wasn't the best knight for nothing after all.

    He might have knocked over a few precariously stacked books as he glanced back to see Artorius gaining on him fast. Arthur managed to get out of the library, though not without nearly bumping into someone else in the process, he apologized, cast them one quick glance to make sure that they didn't knock anything over before he continued on down the hallway.

Gwen as a priestess of Athena/Morgana (this is also how she’ll look as a gorgon, just imagine the crazy curls are snakes) and Morgana as Athena.

I based their outfits off Gwen’s pretty lavender dress with the yellow bodice, and Morgana’s distinctive purple gown with the green sleeves from earlier seasons.

TYPES OF ROLEPLAY / HOW I DO THREADS: I don’t. I just do whatever is on my dash when I'm online. mainly asks. I do little short things mostly. I do my threads on discord. long - running threads that slowly build upon the muses.

PLOTTING PREFERENCES: wing it. get a general idea ooc, run with it and plot further if need be. long expansive thought out arcs

TYPES OF THREADS I DO / PREFER: one - liners only. whatever dash shenanigans I’m online for. para or multi - para. literal novels 

REPLY SPEED FOR THREADS AND CONSISTENCY KEEPING THREADS: I lose threads all the time and usually get back to them. I tend to lose threads but please tell me if I have and I’ll reply. I drop threads pretty quickly. I'm really slow but I will get back to you. I reply on a schedule / queue. I usually reply within a week. I reply every day. I reply almost instantly.

ROMANTIC OR SEXUAL SHIPS: I don’t do these ships. I'm not against them happening but it is not the main point of my blog. ships will have to be discussed a lot ooc. super chemistry based. I love doing ships, hmu I probably already ship it so just ask. I ship really quickly. autoship or ship within a few interactions. I mainly rp for the cute ship fluff or angsty smut.*

SMUT: I do not do smut at all. I'm very selective about it. I only do it on a separate blog / on discord. I mainly only do asks relating to nsfw headcanons on Sundays. I write it a medium amount. I write it all the time and love to. I am comfortable with foreplay and fade - to - blacks (for the comfort of my writing partner) but nothing further.*

*(For both shipping and smut: Ships can happen on this blog (Shireen having a boyfriend or girlfriend could be sweet), but not smut as Shireen is underage. Mun does do shipping and smut roleplay with adult muses, and you might see this on other blogs.)
