Almost Human. // Artificial!AU
Another package got delivered that day.
Standing tall like a cardboard coffin, a laugh at old tradition that died ages ago, in his living room as he sat on the armchair and watched delivery bots set the thing up, greet him in their computer voice that sounded a bit too much like Jarvis, and left.
Surely, Stark had too much time on his hands lately to have him test out so many products in this short amount of time. However, it was when his beer bottle was empty and he had stared at the box for far too long that Billy actually god up and started opening the damn thing.
And what awaited inside was a shock.
~
It was an hour or so later, after reading the instructions, groaning in annoyance, and finally managing to input vocal control system in the robot - no, thing - that was standing in front of him that Billy took a deep breath. Because while robots, androids - whatever people would call them, really - usually looked as the name suggested, all metallic and faceless, this one was vastly, insanely different.
He would have to ask Tony to cut down on the drinking and get himself a real life, one with real people.
Because the bot he was supposed to beta test, the one that had been sent to him, was very much human-like. With curly brown hair and slightly unshaven cheeks and anatomy, only clothed by some flimsy fabric around the hips, he looked almost alive, almost as if he was simply sleeping. And Billy found himself trembling lightly as he spoke up.
“Command no.1: Wake up.”
