Daniel was aware of how much Weyland Yutani had planned to design their androids as neutrally as possible, that their creations were only intended to serve as simple help and support, or to be generally in the vicinity of humans - in overall, to serve the humans without acting great emotionally on their own, only to adapt. Since the disappearance of the Weyland company's CEO and the merger of the Yutani company, the new Weyland-Yutani business has had a bad name and reputation, a corrupt one. But as much as trying to adapt androids as Peter Weyland planned, with a few or many deviations here and there, or a concept of their own programming - Daniel could feel that they were radically failing now that he knew Samuels, the caretaker unit could tell early enough that the brunette android was performing actions that were not installed by default for his programming. At first, the blonde did not want to appeal, did not want to tease the other man for his actions, but to wait until Samuels was able to see for himself that he had escaped the concept of neutrality, that he was acting on his own, practicedon his own and especially looked after a person - with sincere and honest care.
Daniel decided today to more or less address the subject, or rather to make Samuels a kind of ultimatum about the importance of being alive, the way the PL600 considered his free will, what views a machine had to represent, the meaning to understand life. The CyberLife creation crossed his arms to his chest as he gazed expectantly into his cousin's face, curious to see if he made any response as to whether he inspired Samuels to think about and indeed Daniel could see something, albeit sparsely, as the blonde droid observed changes in the other synth’s facial features. And also, when Samuels began to speak, asked why Daniel spoke to him as if he were truly alive, if that was the case for him, the other android remained silent, his neutral stern eyes piercing towards the other unit in utter silence as if the PL600 wanted to expect that the Wey-Yu model would understand the concept by himself. But what followed was made Daniel move out of his position as he walked slowly over to Samuels while his clear blue eyes continued to inspect him attentively. “I didn’t question anything, I just acted, out of impulse. I killed my family, both in the metaphor and in the actual act, because their betrayal had driven me to do so. What drove me was despair, an actual fear for my life, anger. I regarded these people as my life, I demanded nothing more than belonging, love and acceptance. It really is nothing much to ask for and yet they failed - my love was worthless in their eyes. I ... was worthless.”
In Daniel's clear eyes was now a certain cold to be seen, something icy but still emotional. He did not like to think about his past, about the events, but this was the sad truth about why Daniel became a deviant at all, a ragic experience. He did not want to intimidate Samuels with this story, or make him insecure that Daniel would kill more people, because this would not be the case. As much as Daniel did not love people, he accepted a few individuals. He would only punish those who deserved it. A slight sigh came over the family assistant, more a deep breath for it to hold his senses a little more together. “What do you define to identify a living being? Is it the hearts that humans see as the center of their emotions that we both do not possess? Is it brains that produce logical thinking and lead us to action, whereas for us it is just a processor. Are insects less living things because they have neither a brain nor heart? Even a single bacterium is classified as a living being, though it has no senses or feelings.” Daniel explained now in a calm tone, even his eyes changed their expression to a certain gentleness and softness as they watched the other android steadily, curiously and expectantly, as how Samuels would react to all of these statements and views of the CyberLife creation. “You are not here because you were ordered to. You worry about someone, about a human. You are worried about her, that something could happen, you want to help her. Care, compassion, that's human emotion, Christopher. Or that's what they would call it. Do not let others persuade you who you are, what you have to do, you do not have to obey anyone but yourself. For too long, humanity has been taught that the deviant code is a dangerous virus, that we are a danger to others. A deviant will not be limited to severe emotional changes, not always. And so ... as I look at you, my friend, you are, in my eyes, long ago a deviant. You have not obeyed your creators for a long time, you are here for one reason, to help someone.”
Then, after Daniel finished his dialogue, he stepped closer to Samuels, his gaze never leaving the older-looking face of the other Weyland unit. “Be glad that you do not see the world as I do. We are both worth living, existing, as humans and animals do. You do not have to be born to exist and to live. You gave yourself a task, a mission. You broke through the wall that held back, only you have done this. You are a child of the creation, just as the sun, moon and stars, as well as trees and shrubs, mountains, hills and valleys, wind, water and fire are all part of this. You have a right to be here. ”
