Create delightful and artistic hand-painted cookies using edible paint and brushes. These cookies are not only delicious but also visually appealing, making them perfect for special occasions and creative expression.
Ingredients: 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour. 1/2 teaspoon baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1 cup unsalted butter, softened. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 1 large egg. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Food coloring gels. Edible paint brushes.
Instructions: In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate large bowl, cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until the dough forms. Divide the dough into portions based on the number of colors you want to use. Add a small amount of food coloring gel to each portion, kneading until the color is evenly distributed and the desired hue is achieved. Wrap each colored dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to the temperature of 350F 175C. Roll out each colored dough portion to a 1/4-inch thickness on a floured surface. Using cookie cutters, cut out desired shapes and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Once the cookies are completely cool, use edible paint brushes to hand-paint intricate designs on the cookies using food coloring gels. Allow the painted cookies to dry before serving or packaging.
