🖼✍️🏾reposted from @galerie.shibumi #GalerieShibumi is honored to announce an open call for Black New York, a group exhibition inspired by the profound legacy of the African diaspora in New York City.

We are especially moved by the recent passing of artist #NonaFaustine, whose work powerfully illuminated the history and presence of Black life in this city. Her images remind us that history is not static—it lives in our bodies, our streets, our stories. In her spirit, we are holding space for artists whose work continues this vital legacy of remembrance, presence, and resistance.

We invite visual artists, poets, writers, and filmmakers based in New York City whose practice is deeply rooted in Black culture—especially work that reflects on the layered histories, identities, and experiences of Black communities in New York. This city is a living archive of Black brilliance, struggle, joy, and creativity. It deserves to be seen, heard, and held.

Please carefully review the submission guidelines on our website for eligibility, deadlines, and full participation details. We look forward to seeing your work and celebrating the Black New York that was, is, and continues to become.

LILA is inviting #musicians, #artists, #storytellers, and #filmmakers to share their work and be featured across our platforms. We're seeking creators whose work explores the intersection of art and spirituality, honoring sacred traditions through music, movement, film, photography, and the written word.

We welcome works that celebrate the rich tapestry of traditions from around the world, spanning cultures, spiritual faiths, and regions.

📽️ Film & Storytelling – Short films, visual meditations, or sacred narratives

🎼 Music & Audio – Concert recordings, original compositions, prayers, or soundscapes

📷 Photography & Visual Art – Capturing moments of transcendence and sacred traditions

📝 Written Works – Poetry, essays, or personal reflections on devotion and spirituality

Selected works will be featured on LILA's Instagram, YouTube, SoundCloud, website, and/or Viewcy, reaching a global audience. Plus, there's an opportunity for revenue-sharing for some media types and eligibility for future LILA small grants.

The program's framework provides ample time for research and development, as well as opportunities for work presentation and community engagement.
