Archival Pigment Prints. 24" x 36", Ed: 10+2AP. $1,760 + shipping. . Image shown: 'Musical Decanter', 2018. Jeanette wrote about her work for our #ArtistsOnArtists exhibition recently, here are some her words - read the full text on the gallery #newsblog. . "Purposeful humor is present in much of my imagery, including this series—I selected some of the tech objects specifically for their charm or quirkiness. I’ve also included some “Easter eggs” such as a bent paperclip, an essential tool for the home computer far later than one would have hoped! I arranged technology from different decades, creating some wry juxtapositions and suggesting the passing of time. I’m often surprised by how quickly technology becomes obsolete. Some of the “new” technology I included in these still lifes might be out-of-date before the photograph is ever exhibited! I find that viewers of my still lifes are drawn to the items remembered from their past, sparking conversations about their fondness for, and the limitations of, a discarded radio, calculator, or Palm Pilot". . #techvanitas #vanitas #jeanettemay #klompchingart #collectart #collectingphotography #technologyinart #techstilllife #stagedphotograph #artcollector #affordableart #techproducts #techpr @technology #technology #fineartphotography #larryslist #artinyourhome #artsale #artindumbo #dumboarts #siliconvalley (at Brooklyn, New York) https://www.instagram.com/p/CAVU_B-l3z6/?igshid=1sqbpgxai0181

The 17th Century Dutch vanitas still lifes reflected that culture’s newfound wealth, access to merchandise through international trade, interest in science and technology, and emphasis on craftsmanship. Beauty and desire make the still life potentially unsettling. My careful compositions, sumptuous colors, and all those gadgets are slick and alluring; everything is still but precarious and in disarray.”. .
