Andy Cope, Art of Brilliance Podcast
You know those rare moments when you might recognise that you are ‘in the flow’ - when everything works together in a lovely way, when you are completely absorbed in what you are doing and you don’t notice the time? Well, wouldn’t it be great if you could experience more moments like that in your life?
The picture above explains this principle beautifully - thank to Andy Cope and Csikszentmihalyi & Nakamura. Andy has been researching happiness for some years and has some super-useful and life affirming content on his website. More about him another time...
The basic principle is this, “If skill exceeds the challenge one first relaxes and then becomes bored. If challenge exceeds skill, one becomes anxious, which detracts from productivity.”
Finding the activity that balances your level of skill with the level of challenge is the thing...and if that also happens to be how you earn money then even better!
