"An artist must be able to intrigue, engage and connect with the audience."
Screencap from earlier's video interview with Gelo for my thesis. Here are the set of questions that I asked him. Btw, thank you so much Gelo for helping me!! :) You guise should follow his blog!
When did you learn and how did you start digital art?
I learned of digital art when I was about 15 years old. It was my brother who introduced me to photoshop but he had not patience to teach me so I had to learn on my own. I looked for tutorials all over the net and found deviantart.com. It showcased tons of amazing artist. Others provided tutorials. They helped me a lot. Youtube doesn't exist back then so I had to read a lot, which I had no patience for.
What are the things you consider when making a design/art?
The main factor that I prioritize the most would be the message or story in my works. People are moved by emotions, not just by a picture placed with random figures. The best way to make the audience connect with my work begins with once upon a time. An artist must be able to intrigue, engage and connect with the audience.
Where do you get your ideas and how do you come up with it?
From books, movies, video games, and works of other artist. I create my own world with the works of others by turning them into what I perceive/portray of it. My works are the extension of my thoughts and imagination.
What kind of art do you usually do and what are your certain or preferred styles?
I've been doing digital paintings for 3 or 4 years now. Recently, Ive been doing doodle arts. There's just something about it that brings out the kid out of me.
Here are some of his awesome works!
