Though meltwater streams have always formed on the ice sheet, they're now showing up at higher and higher elevations, earlier than ever before. In the past four years alone, the ice sheet has lost more than a trillion tons of ice. Since the camera was installed in 2007, the terminus of the glacier has retreated over 558 meters (1,830 feet). Glaciers are the canary in the global coal mine. This abnormally fast retreat and deflation shows the effects of #ClimateChange in action.
