James Nizam created holes of varying sizes and shapes to create a celestial illumination. The holes are pierced in a perfect circle formation that resembles looking through a telescope from an observatory. This is one of the pieces of the UniquelyAbstractGallery because it is abstract in it's nature, but it evokes a feeling of celestial being. First seeing this piece by Nizam, as well as the rest of the collection, you see a new type of understanding for new media art in this form. He connects it with a surreal idea of the universe and space and time. Looking at the Trace Heavens collection, it evokes an awe-inspiring thought of 3 dimensional work and the thought of a single presence in a 2 dimensional picture.
Collection: Starry Night: Light Installation
Lee Eunyeol replicated the night sky onto the Earth by fabricating the appearance of stars and celestial bodies. He used LED light bulbs that illuminated landscapes, enhancing their natural setting. This work also coincides with Nizam's work in that they both have a celestial feel that connects their work to mankind, the earth and possibly the universe. Eunyeol's light installation uses lights to evoke a feeling of peace just as one would feel when looking at a night sky. The collection is my favorite because it makes me think of the same thoughts when I look up at the sky, "man, this world is beautiful."

The photograph above was taken by the Apollo 7 spacecraft in 1968 as the craft was flying over the Earth. The image is of the Gulf of Mexico with the rays of the sun reflecting off the surface in the early hours of the morning. This was taken during Apollo 7's 134th revolution of the sun. Even though this piece is also not a part of new age media, I'd like to think that it is because it also uses technology to capture an enchanting image that evokes thought and idea. I also used my own definition of new media art in that the photograph was taken by a technologically advance piece of man-made machinery. I think pieces like these can give new media artists ideas.

Alberto Seveso created the abstract photography by taking underwater shots of different colored ink being dispersed in water. Each photograph in the collection reflects a mysterious and solidified sculpture. This work is not considered new media art, however, my own definition of new media art is the usage of new age technology and technological advancements. With this piece, I considered it to be new media art because of the usage of photography and a high tech camera in order to capture this image. And even looking upon it, it looks almost fake and plastic. It looks almost as if it were to be created by some digital program on the computer. To me, it screams new, exciting, digitized and bold.
