Therapy 11-14-2019 Dog bite Yesterday, I saw my family’s therapist, I revisited my dog attack incident, it’s getting easier to talk about, but still betrayal hurts more than the bites! It is important to speak with a therapist for emotional support, and continue creating Art! I’ve continued creating paper sculptures that will be prepared to be featured as part of the Global Prep exhibition in April2020 with Arts For Learning, Third Space art project. I’m super excited about this amazing piece, it will cover the a 66ftx16ft! Thank you to all who have been watching my posts about the dog attack I experienced and the betrayal of my friend who let go of the dog. I don’t care why she did it only that she did, the injustice is sickening! I started working on the artwork pieces for Global Prep simultaneously working on my Artist proposal. My mind is raging with creative and healing ideas as I heal from dog bite injuries and trauma. I’m still doing much research and hands on ton different techniques to manipulate paper into sculptural work. Here is the beginning and a small piece that will create a Paper ceiling for Global Prep. Before the dog attack on Friday night, I attended Artist, Meredith Setser, one of the 5 artists selected by @arts4learningin participating with the Third Space Art Project. I am one of the 5 artists invited to participate, and after seeing the amazing work of Setser, at the Butler university Laboratory School, I’m super excited to start creating the work I will be presenting at Global Prep Academy in April! Meredith work is soft, inviting and curious, it reminds me of a place I used to hang out at when I was a kid. For years, we lived next to a field of trees, untouched by gentrification. Kids from the neighborhood had dragged a couch and other things that made it feel welcoming to just sit and relax out inside the wood. Meredith’s work is intricate and well made, most pieces are sewn separately then together to create an organic net of connectivity. Together with other artists, the school created drum music that called them while surrounded by Meredith’s artful environment. The formal unveiling of "Alice Observatory" was this evening. I do my best to be proud of all of my work but I really like this one!
