This one has been slow and steady all the way with patience as the key to success. The aluminum plate was digitally cleaned up then cut by @brockmwarner at @warner_steel_sales then I’ve been painstakingly cutting and adhering the colored plastics to the back of the frame then finally added the headlights and VW logo. It’s headed into its frame then gets lit up! @lukeecrawley has engineered all of the lights and soon we’ll be posting another complete @owensandcrawley project. It’s been a fun year of realizing we can make anything our collectors ask for. Last party of the year is December 29th! I’m sure you know already but all of you folks are private stock! And, apparently, the drunk guy that did the plaster and lath in this old house 130 years ago new it way before all of you. He didn’t leave a sip in the bottle and I don’t expect you to either. As always, we’ll have some drinks and some food but this one is special so bring three things if you’d like to partake in the evening’s endeavors: 1- a gift for what might go down as the most bag shit crazy White Elephant. 2- some quarters just Incase we stay up late enough to f@$k our neighbors. 3. @owensandcrawley has another install in the books. “Veil” is a commissioned work that began over a year ago when a client, while commissioning another sculpture, mentioned that she wanted the entryway to her home to resemble a veil. So we said we would start brainstorming and just letting ideas come to us naturally as to what that might look like. The inspiration for design finally came to me on a walk along the harbor while I was in Samos, Greece. There is a dense spherical Thorn-bush there with beautiful geometric patterning. And that was it! When I came home @lukeecrawley and I started designing the piece with three nestling sculptures to give body and perspective to the overall piece while not making it appear heavy or overbearing in the space. Our collectors loved the concept and our maquette so we started welding, grinding and polishing. Installed in the home entryway with a dimmer switch it is a beautiful piece.
