Big love, small moments
Arthit look at Kongpob as he washed the dishes while humming a song. It was such a simple moment- one that he had seen multiple times in their 7-year relationship, and it filled him with love so deep it took his breath away. Everyday his love for the boy grew and without thinking too much about it, he hugged Kongpob from behind and whispered in his ear,” Marry me.”
Kong dropped the glass he was holding as he turned around in shock. Arthit softly kissed him and repeated himself,” Marry me Kong.”
Kong smiled through the tears that filled his eyes,” I don’t hear a question in there P’Arthit.”
“Hmmm, cos I wasn’t asking you love. Let’s get married, as soon as possible” said Arthit snuggling into his neck.
“When?”, asked Kong.
“Whenever you want to Kong. I just know I’ve waited too long to call you, my husband.” Replied Arthit.
Kong held on tight and asked,” couldn’t you have waited till Sunday? I had a proposal planned.”
“I couldn’t risk having you chicken out again.” Arthit smiled at Kong’s shocked face.
“You knew?”
“Love, we’ve been together 7 years. Did you really think I wouldn’t notice you trying to propose?”
“Then why didn’t you let me?” whined Kongpob
“Baby, I’ve been waiting for a year. With all the times you’ve backed out of proposing, I began to wonder if you really wanted to marry me.”
“I just wanted everything to be perfect P! And things kept going wrong.”
“It’s perfect now, isn’t it? Let’s get married tomorrow.”
“I think we’re going to need a little more time than that don’t you? What about our family and friends?”
“We can throw them a party later”
“P’ your parents don’t even know that we’re dating yet”
Arthit looked at Kongpob, completely puzzled,” of course they do Kong. They’ve known for a couple of years now. I’ve taken you home to visit them too.”
Kongpob was completely bewildered,” so they know? They’ve always known?”
“Kong, we spend holidays with our families. Why do you think they’re unaware? Did you expect there to be an announcement with tears and lots of drama? Maybe a tantrum or two? Threats of disownment?” Arthit questioned as he nuzzled against Kongpob’s cheek.
“Of course not. I just expected some amount of surprise.”
“I spoke to both sets of parents when you were in China, love. I wanted to make sure there would be no issues when you returned. Besides, your parents already knew about me. Subtlety isn’t your strong suit when it comes to hiding your affection.”
“So, we’re getting married tomorrow?” Kong smiled against Arthit’s lips.
“Hmmm… yes we are. And we can throw everyone a party whenever you wish to”, said Arthit as he lovingly kissed Kong.
