I think that Cas is pansexual. do you agree or what do you think his sexual orientation is? what's your thoughts on that? :)
I actually sort of just answered this in response to a comment made on my post about Cas possibly being asexual, but I will go more in depth here:
First, I just want to say—personally, I hate labeling sexual orientation. I think it’s such a unique part of ourselves, that it’s impossible to really define it as one thing. If someone wants to represent themselves that way or if they want to feel like part of a bigger community, I completely understand, but in essence, no one is just one-sexual thing. This is why we all have unique “kinks” if you will. There are little things that turn everyone on in different ways. It could be something as small as a way a certain person rolls their eyes, or the upwards turn of someone’s inflection when they joke and laugh. Would we then define ourselves by that? Would we try to label that? And there are many reasons why people would not want to be sexual or choose to find physical comfort in another partner. And there are many reasons a person might use that comfort for strictly physical needs but not emotional … there are just too many details to try and confine within one category. From a distance, I would be labeled as heterosexual and I have called myself that for a number of years, but I have always been the first to question myself. I have found women appealing in many ways– some in the same ways as men. There have also been times where I have found no one appealing at all. I feel like sexuality is fluid and can adjust and sway with our lives and our perspectives. One thing may be dominant and be what we feel to be true from the moment we start to exist, but those edges will always be blurred. In any event, I just wanted to preface my commentary about Cas with this because I feel it is relevant.
Castiel is unique. It’s why we love him. It’s why heaven curses him. It’s why Crowley has a weird, soft spot for him and it’s why Dean has faith in him. Castiel is an “angel of the lord” by definition– a definition he was given at his own creation, but even he knows that it never really fit. Yet, being a human didn’t fit either. Being God didn’t fit. Being crazy didn’t fit. No one label fits the angel because he is not one thing and he will never be … and no matter what he is, it will change with every breath he breathes. That being said, the one constant line drawn through every aspect of Castiel’s character is that he would risk everything, himself—heaven, the world to save and protect Dean Winchester. So, he may find comfort in various places—whether it’s in the odd adoration of a wayward demon … or in the bed of a reaper who he thought he could trust; but overall—his heart belongs to the hunter. Therefore, Cas – at a distance might be labeled any number of sexualities, but really, he’s just Cas and he wants Dean, no matter what shape the man comes in, he’s all Cas wants.
Castiel is Deansexual. Whether that involves physical intimacy or not, it doesn’t matter because he just needs it to be Dean. Always and forever— the hunter: Dean Winchester.
