1: Talk about the first time you watched your favorite movie
Honestly, it’s a bit hard for me to remember now, but I think the first time I ever watched Howl’s Moving Castle I was at home, curled up after a long shift at work. It had been a rather rough day because let’s be honest, telecommunications sucks. People are so rude over the phone it takes everything in you not to say “I have your whole life right in front of me... banking info, social, I know how many affairs you’re having right now... please, make my day because I can FUCK your world up.”
Anyways, I came home and after decompressing for a bit decided a movie before bed would be great and ended up staying up and watching it twice because Calcifer is awesome and I fell in love with that little fire demon!
“Here’s another curse for ya, May all your bacon burn!” It turned out to be a good night cuddled on the sofa between him and cats and dogs.
5: Talk about the best birthday you've had
Um, well honestly my best birthday and my worst happened when I was 17. My mom had gotten together with my adoptive brother and set up the most amazing surprise party for me since I didn’t get to have a sweet 16... hell I didn’t even celebrate my 16th birthday. Anyways, I didn’t know anything of course and the day of the party my mom told me that we were going to see Happy Feet at Tinsel town ~really awesome theater here~ and I was super happy, because I love penguins. I had been dying to see that movie and was really happy that it was just gonna be me and my mom.
Well, she had gotten a call from “work” which was actually my brother, letting her know everything had been set up and they were ready for me. So my mom made up some excuse and we parked at a store for a minute and someone pulled in next to us, and my mom was like “Randi, Who’s that? Don’t you know them?” and I was like “Mom... I really just want to go to the movies... can’t someone else from your office go in for you?” and my mom was like “Randi... those boys in that car... don’t you know them?” and finally I looked over and it was Aaron and Jorge!!! The were friends from band camp and lived about 2 hours away.
I jumped out of the car and tackled them because omg I hadn’t seen them since that summer. We talked almost every night and they knew but no one said anything to me. Finally they loaded into my mom’s car and my mom was all “Okay guys we’ve got to stop at my work before going to the movies” So off to her work we went.
She worked at the convention center where they have huge party rooms and everything... well she told me to head to one of the rooms and kick on the lights while she followed behind. So I did. I ran ahead with Jorge and Aaron and we yanked open the door and I noticed there was something in the floor and I called out to my mom “Hey, we may have a mess in here” before flicking on the lights and being promptly glomped/tackled by my closest friends while they yelled “Surprise!”
The mess in the floor... Balloons. So like my friends started kicking out some rocking music, we had karaoke and pretty much whatever. Had the room to ourselves because my mom went into the hall and chilled with some co-workers. Well finally it was cake time and my mom got this awesome cake with an Inuyasha picture on it. Which at the time was my fav anime. So all was going well with the exception that my ex was there. We’d had a falling out a few days prior due to an admittance that the only reason he’d been with me was to get in my pants. He was also the guy that everyone... and I do mean EVERYONE thought I’d end up married to or at least, have kids with...
Neither of those things happened because he’s a druggy and can’t keep it in his pants and there’s really a lot more but meh, he’s no longer in my pasture, so why should I care?
Anyways, I’d been hanging with Aaron who at the time had a thing for me and it was mutual... John~ex dip shit~ had made some comment or another that lead to me breaking down in the bathroom. My brother, 3 guys I’d grown up with, 2 of my girl-friends boyfriends, Aaron and Jorge promptly tossed him out and said he had to go. My mom looked at him and was like “I’m sorry but yea... you need to go. You can call your mom from my phone” blah blah blah...
After that it was a contest to get the party thumping again and cheer me up. Which did happen because we ended up chasing around something like 600 balloons and popping them. We also ended up having a slight food fight and breaking it down to Thriller by MJ. So despite the horrible middle of the party, it was really awesome.
Admittedly, I was still upset about not seeing Happy Feet but I was so happy to see Aaron and Jorge and just everyone that came.
