It was one of my favorites but the song became expendable when Grand Puba used the same loop “Just A Love Child” by Bobbi Humphrey on his second album. “I gave a little insight into my outlook on life, friends, and loyalty, all while walking through the crime infested streets of NYC. My high school quarterback, Mike Walker, makes his recording debut with a little comment at the end of the song, he’d been buggin’ me since 1988 to be on a song. This song would’ve been on my fourth album, it was recorded during the height of Bad Boy Records’ stronghold on the industry. They had a major influence on the sound of hip-hop music, this song didn’t have a chance at that time. Most record labels and A&R executives were being Puff Daddy dick-riders and demanded a sound closer to what his camp was doing, in my opinion there’s enough room for everything” -- Masta Ace
