One of the oldest, largest and most revered temple complexes in Bangkok, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha (Wat Pho) -spelt also 'Wat Po' is a must-see for all visitors to the Thai capital. As the name suggests, the site’s main feature is a large, gold leaf-covered reclining Buddha. This gigantic statue is the largest in Thailand, measuring 151 feet (46 metres) long and 50 feet (15 metres) tall. The Buddha’s feet alone are 16 feet (five meters) tall, both exquisitely decorated and inlaid with mother-of-pearl. Taking a walk along the length of the entire statue is a real treat, and in addition, travelers can find many other Buddha images at Wat Pho as well (Wat Pho Tourism Centre, 2017). Located next to the Grand Palace, at Sanamachai Road and behind the Temple of the Emerald Buddha, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha is one of Bangkok’s key attractions, and therefore included in most city and temple tours of the capital. For a unique way to visit this and other important sights in the city, take a sunset or night bike tour; hop on a tuk tuk (not recommended) for a fun-filled sightseeing adventure; or board a longtail boat to arrive via the Chao Phraya River. Address of the Wat Pho at Sanam Chai Road, Phra Nakhon District. Since December 2012, entrance to the temple costs 100 baht and you can visit any time between 08:00 and 17:00. #GoASEAN #Thailand #PlengChatThai #AmazingThailand #Bangkok #ExploreThailand #Backpackerstyle #IndochinaTrip #ASEANConquerorMissions (at Temple of the Reclining Buddha, Bangkok)
