I JUST REMEMBERED THAT I HAD A CRUSH ON TRACEY
AND MAYBE JAMES TOO OH MY GOSH IT ALL MAKES SENSE
Me: what if I'm not actually kin with Ash, I mean Pikachu isn't even one of my favorites
Me: *remembers that I have literally 10 Pikachu on Pokemon Go that I refuse to get rid of*
Me: I-
I miss Serena so much. so, so much. and Clemont, and Bonnie. I ache for them. I miss Pikachu and Greninja and Goodra and Noivern and everyone. Gods I just. I’m hurting.
I just finished binging XY, and I just... oof. So many fond memories from that time. I sobbed my way through that last episode.
I unlocked a few memories, too. I remember battling Alain in the finals, and the wind blasting in my face when Bisharp and Goodra collided. I remember Serena talking to me when she was announcing she was going to Hoenn. I remember the words I spoke to Lysandre on top of Lumiose Tower, and how when I said people would be healing from old scars tomorrow, I was thinking of myself and Cilan.
I grew so, so much on that journey.
One of the more clear memories I got today was when Alvin was fighting Clembot. In the middle of the battle, I looked at Serena and apologized for how I was behaving at the beginning of the journey, all beat up and broken and like the world was out to get me. She forgave me. Told me she was glad I’m better now. Said I’ve grown a lot. I smiled and looked back to the battle, and watched Alvin fight with the same vigor I’d had when I first started. I realized in that moment that I wanted to have that spark in me again. So, I would head back home to Kanto and travel through there once again to try to win the league.
I miss Kalos. I learned a lot. I’m glad I ended up deciding to go there instead of anywhere else to heal.
I just got hit with a whole bunch of Kin memories today so hoo boy, under the cut:
I’m going chronologically for this:
-Dawn and I had a thing for each other. She started her journey late, so she was 12 when we were traveling together, and I was 13. We were hitting puberty at the same time and she was teaching me about periods (because I was trans in this canon), so we had a lot to bond over and were really, really close. We both had crushes on each other, but neither of us wanted to ruin our friendship, so we kept quiet about it. It drove Brock absolutely nuts.
-When Brock and I split ways after Sinnoh, I cried like a baby because he was the older brother/father figure I needed in my life. I called him all the damn time when I was in Unova.
-Whereas Dawn and I had soft puppy love for each other that we were both too shy to admit, Cilan and I were red hot, firey passion kind of thing. He flirted with me. I was immediately smitten the moment we met. He was really, really hot. By this time, I was 14, and he was 16, so it wasn’t a big age jump for either of us (in our opinions, at least-- it wasn’t enough to bother us).
-We cuddled under the stars a lot. I remember holding hands and walking down a path together with my head on his shoulder. Iris was off to the side, rambling about Axew and dragons.
-We parted ways when Cilan told me he wanted to break up. Iris was standing behind him for support. When I put two and two together that he was dating her already, I flipped out and stormed off. I threw my phone away because he kept trying to call and apologize. I called Professor Oak when I got to the next Pokemon Center and sent back all of my Pokemon except Pikachu. Professor Oak asked if I was coming home, and I said no and that I was just heading straight to Kalos. I was trying not to show how brokenly upset and angry I was. He asked if I was okay. I lied.
-The first part of the journey in Kalos was rough. Serena liked me, but I felt guilty for not liking her back, and I wasn’t ready at all to try romance again. Serena thought I was just oblivious. I wasn’t.
-The drinking age in Kalos was 14, and we were both 15. One night, in Lumiose, after Clemont and Bonnie had gone to bed, neither Serena nor I could sleep. We went and got drunk in the Pokemon Center battlefield. I told her all about Cilan. She understood that I was going through a rough time after that and stopped flirting with me nearly as much as she had before.
-Clemont was absolutely furious with us when we got up the next morning with horrible hangovers. It’s one of the only times I ever saw him such raw anger coming from him.
-The night after I lost that 8th gym battle the first time, Cilan called. He told me he’d been trying to find me, like everyone had. I’d just...disappeared after Unova, and everyone was worried sick. I was already stressed from losing that battle and feeling like a failure, so I yelled at him and told him to fuck off. When I hung up, I sat outside on that porch. Clemont came out and talked to me until I calmed down. I told him what had happened between Cilan and I. After a while, he let me be alone, and that’s when I went into the forest by myself to spend all night in the snow.
-I did yell at Serena like I did in the anime. When she found out that Cilan had called, she gave me the biggest hug and forgave me.
-When I went to Alola, I was still 16, and I was in a higher class than the one in the anime. I had my own apartment and was in a class taught by Samson Oak. Lillie and Kiawe were in my class, but the others were in lower classes. I had a crush on both of them. With Lillie, it was easy, because the only experience I’d had with liking girls was with Dawn. I stayed away from Kiawe, though. It still hurt, even if I was doing better.
I can’t wait to find more kin memories tbh. Today has been fun
