Meet some of the heroes: Byleth [Ashen Nightmare]
It’s funny because there’s at once too much Hopes and too little Hopes stuff in FEH. M!Shez keeps getting sidelined (and for being the only sword Shez with actual swords, he didn’t even get the right swords!). Rearmed Lysithea gets her silly lore-confused Hopes Relic rather than something neat like Abraxas. You know a rearmed Edelgard would get Labraunda over something like the Sword of Seiros.
And as an F!Shez Enjoyer, I’m not even happy! The seasonal Shezzes are flanderized and more or less ignored (even though their 5* 40 lines are generally above average, summer F!Shez got all introspective which was fun). What I’d like is to see Shez interact with like, anyone. Houses units, Monica, other mercenaries, Monica, and so on. What we get is just more of the same (which is recent FEH in a nutshell, I don’t know why I expect more).
Ashen Nightmare is a silly unit: we’ve had so much M!Byleth, they act really out of character even for the angrier Hopes!Sothis, and their forging bonds is just so dull. Tell the lordlets not to give in to anger, sure. Untread ground, that. Most of it is just jpgs flashing and the lordlets going “ugh! so strong!”
And they can—or could, anyway—write Shez! The little Shez interactions in their forging bonds were neat! From the “what’s the big deal, that’s still me just the other gender” to “wait you chose what side?!” it kinda hit.
Anyway, I think they don’t do duo fallen units, but imagine Sothis!Byleth and Epimenides!Shez duct taped together, prevented from killing one another by summoning magic, and just being an angry blender shouting incomprehensibly at one another. Nobody gets a word in edgewise to explain that they’re not actually from the same world/timeline.
“You slew this vessel’s sire!”
“My vessel did no such thing, you monster!”
