A King, a Nymph, and Some Kids | Asher and Ginevra

Ginevra and Asher are pregnant. Don't get the water nymph wrong, she loves her daughter with all her heart and will kill if anyone even thought about harming her little one. But having a child with the love of her life? She was thrilled and scared. This wasn't the first time that they were pregnant, and the first time....well - let's just say her firstborn wasn't Asher's.

Astrid is her true miracle, considering how nerve wrecking she was thinking about the possibility of the small life inside of her dying like the sibling before Astrid, she wasn't expecting to actually give life. But a couple of years later and her being pregnant once again with the real man in her life, this pregnancy...no matter what was going to be her best one. Even when she found out there wasn't one but two little beans inside of her, she bawled knowing that she was making a life again. Telling both Astrid and Briar that they'll be older siblings was something she never thought would happen to her. This was something that came out of fairytales. Being with the man you love, with kids you absolutely love and die for and telling them that they'll be new additions to the family....it just wasn't real. Was it?

Well, her 6-month growing belly was enough proof for her. She did have to admit that the kicking was something she could do without, twice the kicking, however - she definitely could do without. However, she did adore feeling them move inside of her, it's the best feeling she could ever feel.

One day she found herself being absolutely lazy and she just decided to read a book to her little twins with Astrid soon being her co-reader. "....I do not like them, Sam, I am." Astrid was a little too brilliant for her own good but Ginevra just adored watching her daughter curled up on her side with her small hand on her stomach and reading to her baby brothers. "Mommy, when do I get to play with my brothers?"

Ginevra sat up a little more and closed the book and put it to the side. "Soon honey. Very soon."

Walking toward one of the rooms inside the Wonderland Castle Asher was followed by several of the castle staff. Pausing he turned toward the men and women that were just spouting out all sorts of official royal business nonsense. He nodded “I will, I will.... But for right now.” He lifted up a ripped up crumpled piece of paper that seemed as if it were intentionally made to replicate the looks of a treasure map. There were multiple colored markings and images on the paper “I am a bit busy with something important.” The officials started going off, about how what they were telling him was important and how he needed to tend to things urgently.

The reality was that they were wrong,  nothing they wanted him to do was that important. It was a time of peace in Wonderland and those who lived around the land were contempt, if not happy. No one had come to express any grief this week “Look, I will get to all of that tomorrow.” Asher smiled at them “But for now it seems my children need my attention more than...” Gently he lifted his left hand up to tug on a paper being held out to him “...Send an inspection team to look at a portal that has been dropping things from the other world into the lake...”  Squinting slightly he let his hand drop from the paper “It's not going anyway, we can have one day of fun. Go have fun with your children.” Asher turned away then and grabbed onto the doorknob opening the door and walking inside.

After walking inside he noticed four little figures scurrying around the play area, in the dark. Smiling a bit he looked over trying to find Ginevra in all that darkness as well, but she didn't seem to be moving, and he couldn't make her out among the other shapes.  Flipping the light switch he blinked as he stared at the 'empty' room.  Glancing at the paper still in his hand he frowned “I don't get it, it says that I am in the right spot. Where is my treasure?”  Walking over to an art table with a couple of crude drawings on them he reached down to pick up a paper “I didn't know that treasure could be anything but gold...”

Ignoring the twins Sparrow and Skylar's laughing and shuffling under the table he stood straight again  and walked over to a bin full of stuffed animals “Hello?” Grabbing a white rabbit with a watch sewn against its hand he tilted it over  “Is that giggling?”  Grinning he suddenly stuck his hands carefully into the bin and pulled out a small little girl “Astrid! What are you doing in there!” He grinned holding her up before bringing her closer to him “Well, You are an unconventional Treasure, but I guess I'll keep you.” He smiled sweetly gently poking her nose before a shout came out and he was suddenly hit in his left leg.

“Nooo. Daaaaaad! I wanna be a treasure!” Briar shouted, apparently he was the ringleader of the group of four children and had ditched the plan. Skylar and Sparrow then crawled out from their hiding spots still giggling and pointed at Briar and spoke in unison “You ruined it! You flamingo brain!”

Asher grinned and held Astrid against his hip “Ginevra, where did all these kids come from?” He asked her finally looking over to where she had been the entire time and gave her a playful kiss, blowing it at her before patting the top of Briar's head with his free hand “Stop biting my leg.” Asher whispered calmly to the wolf child, but it did hurt a lot more than he was letting on.

7.) Jaw 

After getting the little ones fed and taken care of, she scooped up some of the breakfast she saved for the other. Truthfully she was expecting them to join her and the kids in the dinning room but she also understood why he didn’t get out of bed. So once the kids were situated, Ginevra dismissed herself to get the plate for him and walked it up for him. Though she couldn’t help the innocent admiring smile from spreading across her cheeks. Walking lightly over to the bed she placed the food on the counter and carefully crawling onto the bed and hovered over him, leaning in to lay butterfly kisses along his jaw. “Babe it’s time to wake up.” She said but never stopped placing those small kisses along his jaw.

“Oh? I--That's neat.” He mumbled his brows furrowed faintly before he let out a breath and shook his head “It's not sad. I just have been having an emotional week.” He couldn't help but feel like everyone was leaving him. That he was going to be alone. Now, he knew that wasn't true. But moments like these had often hit him and he didn't know what to do with it. As King of Wonderland he wished he wouldn't let things from his past haunt him the way they had. But when the feeling hit there was nothing more he could do. It was like he was back in the woods, dying, tied up side down in a tree screaming for help that would never come.

Swallowing he looked at her briefly before nervously looking away “Your quote just reminded me-- Uh, anyway, ahem...” He shook his head and put on a smile, not a very bright or adorable one as he normally would. Shaking his head he lift a hand up lightly rubbing the back of it against his eyes “Okay. I am not fine. But I will be.” Standing then he turned and walked toward a door, opening it and calling for Briar. The boy came charging out jumping into Asher until the older male lift him up into their arms. Turning back he closed the door sealing off the giggles of other children, his twins with Ginevra mostly. Moving toward Lyra he nods at her “Would you say Briar is learning to control his wolf side better, lately?”

“When are you going to bring Briar’s father around to meet me?”  

“Never mom. In the modern day world - two people don’t have to get married first to sleep together.” Lyra responded as she forked her meat into her mouth. Briar was with Asher and while she and Asher have a good friendship going now. She knew that if it wasn’t for their son - she’d have nothing to do with him other than that one night. That glorious breath taking night.

“Well, will you at least give me something? You hardly ever talk about my grandson’s father and I would like to know more. Is he a shifter? A Nymph? What is he?” 

“Human. Ish.” Lyra wasn’t good with anything but being blunt, but this was her mom and she knew that if she didn’t talk about Asher than her mom will never leave her alone. “His name is Asher Cooke, he’s nothing more than a goofy guy that knows how to make you laugh and smile when you really don’t want to.” The were looked down at her food and started to play with it trying to best describe Asher Cooke. “He’s a little over the top but still a down to earth…easy to talk to kind of person. It takes some time to get used to him but once you do he’s a great human being. A great person to talk to in a time of need.” Then and only then did she smile up at her mom. Knowing that she was a lot more fond of the man she had an unexpected kid with now than before. “He’s probably the best guy to have a kid with.”
