55: Things you said under your breath! I'd love some of these in Masquerade AU. Definitely not because I'm obsessed with it. Most definitely not. ;)
55: things you said under your breath - in Masquerade verse.
The mornings after were always the hardest, at night when they met up they could pretend like it was any old date with the world in front of them. They could smile and laugh and pretend. They could kiss their first kisses and find each themselves in each other all over again, they could talk and say each others names like the secrets they were.
Those nights were what Victor lived for, the mornings however, always brought their temporary happiness crashing down.
Mornings were waking up to reality knowing they had to part and then play this game all over again next time. Mornings were when Yuuri’s mask crept back on breath by breath to hide his growing pain, each of his adorable expressions slowly disappearing in front of Victor’s very eyes. It was Yuuri trying to keep it all locked in, in a bid to convince Victor that this was all alright, that every time they said goodbye it didn’t tear him apart a little bit more inside.
Today was no different, standing at the door fixing each other’s ties, breathing in the same air and getting a much needed dose of each other before their next fix. Yuuri was normally the infallible one here, the strongest who always managed to walk away, and yet this time he held on a little tighter, a little longer, breathed in the scent of Victor’s cologne a little deeper as he touched his forehead to the centre of Victor’s chest.
It was the hardest to let go like this, when he knew Yuuri didn’t want to either. It was heartbreak on the edge of hearing, Yuuri whispering down to the floor, Victor still heard it nonetheless, goodbye.
Victor could count the amount of times on one hand Yuuri had said that, just like he could count the amount of times he’d been forced to watch Yuuri walk away after hearing it, just like now.
And so the door clicked shut behind Yuuri as he left yet again, and Victor could only stand there in the emptiness left.
“Thats not something you say under your breath, Yuuri.” he heard his own voice crack as he longed to give chase, but his plans weren’t ready yet, it wasn’t time to run, and so he could only say.
