Sword Catcher and A darker shade of magic

so others have probably noticed the similarities too but I just had to get this out of my brain and put it here.

I have only read the first book of A darker shade trilogy and I can already see some similarities. Lin and Kell are about a rare type of species, she's Ashkar and he's Antari. Let's just forget for a moment that they both start with an A and focus on how only THEIR species could perform magic. Both of the characters need some talisman or another object to perform magic. Though Kell can conjure magic on his own, he still needs some thing to conjure specific magic for example jumping between the London's. I think there is also some magical objects that collectors collect but only the antaris could use them.

Now this is just the similarities between Lin and Kell. There is another main character that goes by the name of…. KEL. yep. Kel.

The official character synopsis

"Kel is an orphan, stolen from the life he knew to become the Sword-Catcher-the body-double of a royal heir, Prince Conor Aurelian. He has been raised alongside the prince, trained in every aspect of combat and statecraft. He and Conor are close as brothers, but Kel knows he has one destiny: to die for Conor. Kell and Kel are both orphans, they both grew up alongside a prince. Idk if Kell's destiny is to sacrifice himself for Rhys but I wouldn't be surprised bc the king of red London uses Kell to complete his tasks.

So yep. Cassie probably didn't mean to make it similar and it was probably not her intention. The book may be COMPLETELY different then A darker shade considering this is only similarities between the characters but I hope the books aren't similar because we r gonna get a TMI x Harry Potter plagiarism scandal again.

Ashkar's Godkiller form as well as her dad. Called Godkiller because it was the form Ashkar used to defeat her father. It's the same species that he is and a species I don't have a name for yet. Slightly more info under the cut.

For now I am calling Ashkar's dad Ahriman. It's one of his names, probably, but not his birth name. He's also known as The Sun King and his race/species is a type of sun/solar dragon. Ahriman is an embodiment of destruction, wrath, and the blinding light of the stars. He had ambitions to conquer the entire universe and become all-powerful before Ashkar defeated him. Greedy, brutal, egotistical. He was about 8 billion years old when he was defeated. Ahriman isn't dead, he was put to eternal rest. Ashkar worked hard to make sure he would never rise again.

Ashkar doesn't particularly like transforming into her Godkiller form, as it reminds her of her dad (the two have a horrible relationship). She uses it only when necessary (or, occasionally, to show off).
