Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas || Daniel, Henry and Ashley
Daniel clutched onto the banister as he made his way downstairs from his apartment to the bar, straightening out his hastily ironed best shirt that was fancy by no means, but this felt like a dressing up occasion. After all, it was apparently a day to be celebrated, and his company deserved that much respect.
He briefly glanced at the table he had set an hour before - three plates sat on top of a plain black table cloth, cutlery placed neatly on either side along with empty glasses. Wine was cooling in the fridge along with other beverages, dinner was nearly ready upstairs and the last of his money had been spent on a wreath that was hanging on the front door. He walked behind the bar to the back and pressed play, and the music that was usually playing at the bar was replaced by Christmas songs. He had never been a fan of them, and, he realised as a woman began crooning, 'Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas', he still wasn't. But it added to the atmosphere that he was trying so hard to set, especially after this morning.
He glanced at his watch as he heard a knock on the door to the bar - he had locked it in case any customers hadn't gotten the notice he would be shut - and bit his lip as he realised that it was four o'clock already. Running a hand through his messy curls, Daniel walked to the door and unlocked it to see Henry. "Merry Christmas," he greeted, hoping the slight smile on his face would make up for the enthusiasm his words clearly lacked. "I'm glad you could make it."
Excuse me, Ashley...
Do you have a moment?
