BEGGGGGIIIIINGGGG tumblr to post this I suspect that it never posts my art posts because it's always high res images and instead of, idk, saying they're over the limit it just says UR POST FAILED and I JUST!!!!!! I'M SO PROUD OF MY SILLY ART I WANT TO SHARE IT so I literally saved all the images I posted to Twitter so it's like.... not the best quality lmaoooooooo PLS TUMBLR I'M BEGGING JUST LET ME SHARE MY SILLY ART

Lots of doodles, lots of paintings, a lot of capybaras lol I'm having so much fun with gouache, I think I'm figuring out what sketchbooks I like, I'm exploring different mediums, I finished my first EVER sketchbook, I feel like I've come so far and I know I'm gonna keep going 🥰

Turns out if you stick with something for a whole year you really do improve, huh? Lol

I did not write any of the ILY things I meant to today or answer asks BUT. I DID paint and I had a lot of fun! Gouache definitely has a learning curve but it's also so much more forgiving than watercolor. I'm so excited to try to paint all the things ever and figure out what I enjoy and just do it without caring about whether or not it's great. So fun to just sit down and make a thing!!!!!

Pls I need some good vibes that I get approved for reasonable accommodations to stay remote so that I actually have the time and energy to continue learning to paint

I wish tumblr would actually let me upload multiple images of my mediocre art so I can show what I've been up to?! Earlier this year I tried sharing watercolor images and it kept "running into an error" when uploading and WHAT IS THE POINT OF THIS TRASH APP IF WE CAN'T UPLOAD THINGS so I guess I'll try just this one (1) image because it'd the one I'm the most delighted with, anyway.

Gouache is so much fun because of how forgiving it is compared to watercolor, and while the re-wetability of gouache is an issue to those who prefer acrylic gouache, I'm finding it to be something that really works to my current advantage. Something I've figured out about painting (and art in general) is how much of it is about insinuation. You don't have to paint every leaf! Just insinuate them, maybe paint a few to tell your brain what they are! And it makes painting so much less DAUNTING!!!!!

I think I want to revisit this later and try to build more contrast so that I can make this look like actual layers of foliage, better insinuate the lighting vs the shadows (my effort at lighting was not opaque + contrasting enough I can see!) but honestly? This went MUCH better than I could have expected it would!!!!

I'm really looking forward to taking my birthday money later this year to buy more gouache lmao. Right now I'm using the cheap miya him gouache and it's helping me figure out what colors I want to buy and build out my holbein collection - which is something I've never done with watercolor, I haven't gotten around to tube paints yet!

Idk I just feel happy! I feel like I'm learning and the things I make bring me so much joy!!!! Me 10 years ago never would have anticipated I'd be here but 🥰 Learning!!!!! Growing!!!! Evolving!
