Sculpture for my friend Wolf Chi of his character Asi! He wanted a sculpture that could double as a candleholder, and he made me a sketch to work off of. I'm not sure if the clay would actually be okay with a live flame right next to it for long periods of time, but for the last photo I lit it anyways. The long pieces of hair were a challenge to do, I fashioned the long shapes out of clay and then curved a piece of foil into a dome shape and laid them inside it to bake. When they were done baking they retained that curved shape. Also, for some reason my acrylic paint was leaving a strange texture when I painted this piece. It was very rough and left small little round bumps instead of a nice smooth coat of paint. I'm not sure what caused that- I sanded down the sculpture and tried repainting it twice but I still got the same result. Maybe my paint is too old? Anyways I think I was able to recreate his sketch pretty well, so I'm happy with it Made with Super Sculpey clay over a wire and foil armature.
