“Three Questions”
Twelve years ago, I moved away from my hometown, an Asian bubble just south of Los Angeles, to the East Coast. Over the holiday break, I had a chance to meet up with a friend I hadn’t seen since high school. He’s a first-generation Indian-American who had a similar upbringing. I wanted to know if he viewed the world the same way I did, if we were equally driven by our parents’ immigrant drive and if stepping out of that bubble made us different people. These were the questions I asked him.
