Born on October 3, 1970, in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, Asim Arun is a former Indian Police Service (IPS) officer and currently a well-known politician in the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
He completed his schooling from St. Francis' College, Lucknow, and pursued B.Sc. at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi. Later, he went on to earn an MA in Public Policy from the University of British Columbia, Canada. His academic and professional background laid a strong foundation for leadership.
Arun joined the IPS in 1994 and served in various cities including Agra, Aligarh, Hathras, and Gorakhpur. He became the Commissioner of Police in Kanpur Nagar and was highly respected for handling law and order with efficiency. He also served with the NSG (Black Cat Commandos) and Special Protection Group (SPG), protecting dignitaries like Dr. Manmohan Singh.
One of his notable achievements was launching Project Seva 100, a reliable police helpline. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he led UP 112, ensuring food and medicine reached people in need.
In January 2022, Arun took VRS and entered politics. He joined the BJP and won the Kannauj Sadar seat, marking a big shift in the region’s political landscape. Today, he serves as Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Social Welfare & SC/ST Welfare.
