GFX Tutorial 1 - Cherry Bomb Tracklist
Hello!! :-) This is the first part of the gfx tutorial requested by @dansphil. The original graphic is here. The entire process is quite complicated and I’m terrible at explaining but I tried my best;; It will be best if you already have some basic knowledge on photoshop and gif-ing because some steps are just explained briefly but if you wish to know in details feel free to message me!! :^^) This is for cherry bomb and I’ll do one for 0 mile soon!
1. Open a 540x540 canvas
2. [Background] Open your desired picture, in this case I used this random cut of ty’s part in cherry bomb teaser:
and drag it onto the canvas
3. [BG] You can find crumpled paper online or in my case I already have this package downloaded so I opened the one that I wanted to use and put it above the image layer in 3
Set the blending mode to luminosity and we have this:
4. Apply some brightness and level adjustments according to your preference and we have this:
5.
CHERRY BOMB
Font: Go Long
Size: 60 pt
01.
Font: Zebra
Size: 36 pt
Impt: Make sure cherry and bomb are two different layers because we’ll be making the ‘bomb’ layer disappear later:
6. Create 6 different layers for each alphabet of ‘C’ ‘H’ ‘E’ etc with the same font and size but different colour. Place them above the original red CHERRY layer. Rearrange them manually so that they overlap each other:
7. For the little music player below, it’s simply done using pen tool and rectangular marquee tool - fill in the colours with paint bucket:
9. Let’s make CHERRY animation first
window > timeline
Total Frame number: 15 (impt: remember to create 15 here because we’ll be needing it later)
but we are only using 6 frames for this
Time for each frame: 0.2 sec
Frame 1: visible - yellow C
Frame 2: visible - yellow H
etc. and we have this:
10. Next, so these are the premade gifs I used (google = best friend):
9. Open these two gifs and
window > timeline > copy frame
So explosion first:
- After we copied the 9 frames from the explosion gif, select frame 7 to 15 on your original canvas and window > timeline > paste frame
- Group these 9 layers and set the blending mode to Lighter Colour
- Same as how we animated CHERRY, Frame 9: 1st layer of the gif visible, Frame 10: 2nd layer and etc
BUT make sure that from frame 8 to 15, the “BOMB” layer is invisible so that it gives the explosion effect:
10. Follow the same copy paste frame method for the running winwin and we have the final outcome:
ps: sorry that the 0:00 layer kept appearing and disappearing in the screencaps but there will be no problem as long as you set it visible for all frames!!
ps: if you noticed, winwin stopped walking in my gif before the explosion and that’s because the winwin gif is only 6 frames so if you want him to keep walking even during the explosion, manually make it visible for the remaining 9 frames too :))
